pilgrim01
I heard that you can make claims within one year after discharge/retirement even if you were not seen for the injury while in service. :) Is that a true statement? Also, what is the "presumptive period"? Thanks! Edited May 19, 2009 by pilgrim01

So, forgive my ignorance here, but a veteran can file for a disability award even if they were never seen for the injury while in service, as long as it is within the first 12 months from discharge. Am I Correct? Is so, are they hard to get?

HadIt.com Elder Pete53 Posted June 22, 2009 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted June 22, 2009 If there is no evidence in your SMR's you will probably need a good Outside Medical Opinion that diagnoses and links to your service. The one year is a magic that allows you to win with less evidence so yes you should file yesterday Veterans deserve real choice for their health care.
