Question

How long after you have your C&P exam can you request copies of the exam, and who do you request the copy from?

Thanks,

Bergie

As a combat veteran, or any veteran for that matter!!!

If you thought the fighting was over when you came home, got out, or when the politicians said it was over.

Welcome to the real fight, welcome to VA claims!!!

Thanks! makes sense...despite having 2 VAMCs within less than an hour's drive, all my exams have been with QTC.

The VARO is working on a reconsideration based on their screw-up--QTC never notified me of a scheduled exam. Should I wait until the new rating decision before requesting the C-File? I don't want to slow the already glacial pace of the RO. :o

If they are all electronically done few days. I was told by my C&P doc they are done and sent that day to the RO. I picked mine up in as much 4 days. Call your ROI office at you VA Hospital and see if they are available. If it is a Mental Health or PTSD exam you will have to wait for them to be sent to you and those can take weeks.....Yog

I can only comment on VAMC records. If your C&P was for a psychological exam it may take the individual from 1 week to up to 4 dependent upon the examiner. I have seen it go up to 4 as the examiner was slower inserting the information.(I personally know of a psych dr getting reprimanded for taking over 4 weeks repeatidly enter these in the computer) Some type as they are talking with you, while others may just take some notes.

IMHO I think 2 weeks should be long enough. Now with an exam C&P for medical issues you have a couple of variables: one you most likely will receive an exam by a nurse practitioner . The NP will do the exam, then transcribe it into the computer and a physician needs to sign off on the exam, so it may take a week or 2 until the Dr signs off on this. With appointments it may take a day up to a week for the person to insert the info into the computer too.

You can go to the medical records and request the records, exam, evaluations. Some places refer to them as medical information technology dept so I asked mine and they said we are "medical records!" The form is:

VA FORM 10-5345.(May 2005)

You can down load this and mail it, fax it or take it with you and hand deliver it to them for the copies. I have done all of the above to obtain my records.

You can print the form off the website: www.va.gov/vaforms/search and put in the form # an walla. Good luck any way you choose.

Cowgirl...thanks...

Hampton and Richmond, VA. My neighbor prefers Richmond, seems the Hampton VAMC always referred him Richmond so now he goes their first.
