tried speedtest - download 642 kbps, upload 49 kbps. i have verizon broadband 5 gb for 60 a month. are these speeds good or not?

Sounds like you have a laptop cell phone connection and I don't think the speeds are that good but ok if compared to dialup.

Yes they have upgraded Philip-I have been with Hughes for many years.

they kept asking me to order a new modem and I finally did and it helped my access.It was free.

The best thing I did however was realize my PC was about 4 years old and I recently got a new PC.

My Hughes Satellite works better then ever- as fast as can be-unless I get ice or snow stuck in the dish or a low lying dense cloud covers my farm.

I started out with landline here in 1988 and it started to give me PTSD-

I am curious if Hughes landline cuts off your net if someone calls you on same line?

We had member here before I got Hughes dish who got my phone number somehow and would call me continually to knock me off hadit so I would give up on hadit and answer the phone and listen to his pity pot cry the blues crap. He had no basis at all for his claim and I am surprised the VA didn't consider him a wannabee.You know him too. DS.

I used satellite for a couple of years/ It was expensive but dialup drove me crazy. I am now using cell phone tether when we go out to country which has speeds similar to my old satellite. I am pretty well convinced that in a few short years satellite will be in the past and most will use wi fi.

One of the strange things is Hadit does not work that bad on dialup as there are not many pictures to load.
