Moderator broncovet Posted August 3, 2009 Moderator Share Posted August 3, 2009 You can get Social Security Disability along with VA disability compensation because, if you are service connected you often meet the SSD defination of disabled. However, VA pension is offset by SSD, since VA pension is "needs based", and if you are getting SSD your needs are partially, at least being met by SSD income. Social Security offers expidited processing for disabled Vets.
carlie
I would like to know can you receive Social Security Benefits and Service Disabled Vet compensation pay at the same time? You can recieve both SSD and VA Service Connected Disability Compensation. If your question concerns SSI and VA Service Connected Disability Compensation, the answer most times is - no you won't recieve both, as SSI payments are limited by your income. Your profile shows that you are 50% SC'd so that would most likely knock you out of the field for SSI. carlie Carlie passed away in November 2015 she is missed.
