sgmdae
Just for fun, we have some knowledgable Vets making remarks. I enjoy all them the good, bad and ugly. How did we read the map, to confuse the enemy, it was made simple so everyone to get an exact reading to their support. Remember we were not to use actual grid Coord. So the answer is not 8 digiT grid Cordinates 100% PTSD 20% right ankle 20% left ankle 10% Right Knee 20% Right Shoulder 10% Tinnitus

JustPLS
Waiting for a answer, come on now?? I didn't realize that was a question, SGM. There were a number of ways to give your location without sending a grid coordinate in the clear. Sometimes we used distance from a reference point, other times we sent the grid in the clear on a scrambled radio, or used shackle codes to send the grid over regular FM. When we were in contact, we assumed the enemy knew where we were, so we sent them in the clear if necessary. Is that what you meant? Pat Pat I wonder if I would have all the medical conditions that I have now if I had never joined the Army. I'm pretty sure the answer would probably be no. When I look around and see others my age who were not in the service, most of them look pretty healthy. Do you think all the employees of the VA really understand that it is ONLY because we served that their positions even exist? sgmdae
Yes that what I was looking for. Reference points for the most common, but during contact it was open as you said I find that many tell me they didn't use reference points, that surprises me 100% PTSD 20% right ankle 20% left ankle 10% Right Knee 20% Right Shoulder 10% Tinnitus
Cavtrooper088
In the Air Cav we usually shacked up the coordinates. Did have a couple of guys do it in Spanish one time. I thought that was pretty funny. One time I was spelling out words using our alpha beta charlie (I forgot the name for this) letters when I used Ranger instead of Romeo. I had a NVA or VC (always thought it was NVA because we were in the tri border area) come up on the net and he said "GD Ranger-I will kill you today". Scared the s--t out of me. "Course I was scared all the time anyways B) Cav
