awesome!!!

I didn't want to do the "move" program for two reasons: (1) it was co-ed, and (2) having to drive to the VA all the time. So I'm wondering if this new women's kinda do it yourself program is the alternative they have come up with.

I'm glad to hear that women vets get the specialized programs that allow them the privacy in a world of men. In the old days we had campaigns reminding the public and the VA, that "Women are veterans too". Good luck on your new project, purple.

I second what Bob just said.

I was going to "do" the MOVE program.

Went to their first meeting. Half of the people didn't show until about 30 minutes into the intro. By that, I mean peeps just kept draggin' in and interrupting the process (they had to stop, give out the "handouts", etc., every time some one would show up). I don't "do" massed gatherings very well, anyway, nor do I have much patience with those who do not place a value on other folks time (I'm from an old Marine Corps family and if it says 0900 hrs, it don't mean 0914).

And, the woman that was the "leader", well, she was, as I've noted before, 5' tall in every direction! Seemed to me kinda like the proverbial "blind leading the blind".

I came home not the least bit excited about that.

So, I got started on my own program. First off, with the yogurt that I discovered, the pounds started melting off. Of course, with eating the yogurt, I also cut out my OTHER "snacks" (you know, Fritos, cup cakes, Shiner Bock, etc.) because I just didn't FEEL like I wanted them anymore. Then I started some nice, calm, upper body exercise. I'm down, as of last week (and I ONLY allow me to weigh meself ONCE a week), 35 pounds, and have gone from a 42 waist to a 38 (I'm a big guy, always have been, the silly-assed doc at the VA sleep apnea clinic told me I should weigh 170 lbs, and I told him, in your dreams, doc, I haven't weighed 170 lbs since I was 14 and only then for just a little while as I was "just passin through 170" on my way to my "fightin' weight" of 250!).

Bob-

Are you upset that this program exists?

Hi purple,

What???? I am pleased that you have this program.

Actually, I was the first VSO state commander to create the first "Women Veterans Advisory Committee". When the WWII vets wanted all women vets to join the aux. LOL.... Also, I lobbied Congress on behalf of Women Vietnam Vets, to help get the RVN Woman Veterans Memorial in DC.... I also created the first minority veterans advisory committee, and the first POW-MIA committee, in a certain southern state of good ol boys. Believe me, I was crucified for it.

I must ask how could you misinterpret my post in support of you new program. I am happy for you. You have been through a lot, purple, and I understand your negative remarks. Have I ever shown any bias on Hadit????

Good Purple and a Belated Happy Birthday to you~!! I've read that Va's use the term 'wellness' in conjunction with mh/bh(behavorial health) also. To me - thats kindness. Now if only they'd stop putting the Planters pnut guy pointing the way to my appointments! ha.

Myself, planning to take the housedog on more outings and may use a pedometer for log notes. I'll post if I do. Or read about it in the comics, Housedog takes Cowgirl for walk.ha.
