Benefits For 0% Rating...

Question

I received a 0% rating for allergies. I've heard that I will have to use my health insurance, but what about medications. By getting a 0% rating, that says they are responsible. So, if they are responsible for the problem, shouldn't they be responsible for the medications to care for it? Thanks.

You do not have a co-pay at the VAMC for service connected conditions. You are also eligable for medical treatment. Once you are in the system you can get an appointment for any condition (except dental) with a co-payment for the additional medicine you receive.

Copay additional meds for nsc you may receive. ie I got meds for low calcium on blood work, but not sc for calcium deficiency so I was charged a copay.

So, there would be no co-pay for the service connected condition and medications. Anything thats not service connected would have a co-pay? Do I have this right?

jtj,

I believe that any condition you are service connected (SC'd)for, even at zero

percent VA is to care, treatment and medications for at no charge to you -

as long as it is done at a VAMC,VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC),

or approved for fee-basis payment.

When a veteran reaches a service connected level of 50 % or higher

VA is to provide care, treatment and meds for any illness or injury

(generally excluding dental)at no charge, but if the condition

is not SC'd, then I believe VA is to bill your insurance company for this.

jmho,

carlie
