gousto64
just received an appointment to see the mental health doctor on Tuesday for a new gaf score. I'm hoping for a diagnoses of pain disorder/depression secondary to my service connected disability . any advise?

jerrbilly
My advice is keep it real and be honest. Make sure the Psych knows everything about your current state of mind and symptoms that have been recent. I make notes and take them with me so I don't forget a dang thing. Also be honest and tell the psych how your SC condition is making you depressed etc.........Look at this visit as if this is your ONE SHOT to get your point across and get the correct results. jerr just received an appointment to see the mental health doctor on Tuesday for a new gaf score. carlie
GAF scores are only a momentary snapshot in time, and can chage from day to day. jmho, carlie
jerrbilly
Carly, The last appointment I had "just for GAF" it wasn't "just for GAF." In other words, be prepared to answer questions regarding your recent symptoms and some medical history. Most likely, there will be standard questions such as "how have you been feeling lately" or "what's been going on." The last one is classic. Good luck, Jerr GAF scores are only a momentary snapshot in time, and can chage from day to day. jmho, carlie
runnenbare
Jerrbilly Did I miss something? This is the first time read that some vets have too go in for a GAF srore. I have never had to go for a gaf rating. The way I know what my gaf is after I get my medical report from Release of Information Office.
