Harm To Self

Rate this question

Question

The other day I was looking at the VA web-site for PTSD, and a segment really caught my attention, "harm to Self". Under harm to self there was a category "eating disorders". I just thought this was interesting. Has anyone filed a claim useing this as a basis? I never had a eating problem until I got back from Vietnam, and have been on every diet, diet pill, therapy, weight loss surgery known to mankind, but can not break the habit.

I have never heard of anynoe making this type of claim before but that doesn't mean it hasn't been done have you searched the BVA decisions and see if there are any successful or unsucessful claims using this as a basis for a compensation claim?

Actually an eating disorder can be a symptom of PTSD. Similar to agoraphobia even enorexia nervousa.

Look it up on the BVA claims site and search decisions.

I was diagnosed with anorexia about 4 years ago. I never did understand this or file a claim. I went to my psych the other day and he said that for some reason in the last year I had gained 30 lbs.

I told the psych, that it was the pain that made me lose weight, and possibly that the simvastatin and sleep meds has put the weight on.
