My friend has 30% and asked me about a tag for her car. I told her about the board but she has no computer. What % do you have to have to get the DV Tag and what does she need, if she qualifies, to get it.

May vary from state to state. In Idaho, you have to be 100% (schedular or TDIU) and you must present a letter from Idaho VA stating you are eligible. The plate and all associated fees is free. They automatically renew it for you every year.

Every state is different. PA is one of the easiest. You send the Dept of Trans form to the VARO. They write in 10% or more and then they write in the # of the reason/disability found on the info page, there are 8. They all pertain to how well/far you can walk. That's it. Send it in to the DOT with $7.50 and the plate comes in the mail within 2 weeks. You have to pay the regular registration fee every year unless you are 100% which is free, but it is worth it. It feels good having a disabled veteran plate instead of the regular handicapped one.

In Texas you have to be 60% or more. Its pretty easy and it allows you to park in Handicapped if you want.

Veterans deserve real choice for their health care.

This is Georgias DV tag criteria.

F. DV Tags, Free (Automobile/Motorcycle): Provided free of charge to: (1) any veteran who was separated under honorable conditions and who served on active duty in the armed forces or on active duty in a reserve component, including the National Guard, and who is receiving or entitled to receive a statutory award from VA for (a) loss or permanent loss of use of one or both feet; B loss or permanent loss of use of one or both hands; © loss of sight in one or both eyes; or (d) permanent impairment of both eyes to the extent that there is central visual acuity of 20/200 if there is a field defect in which the peripheral field has contracted to such an extent that the widest diameter of visual field subtends an angular distance no greater than 20 degrees in the better eye; or (2) any veteran separated under honorable conditions and verified by VA as receiving or entitled to receive compensation at the 100 percent service connected rate as a result of being totally disabled permanently or totally disabled non-permanently. Georgia law allows a disabled veteran to obtain only one free license plate. It can be placed on either a leased or owned vehicle. * (For more information, see Georgia Code Section 40-2-69

A Veteran is a person who served this country. Treat them with respect.

A Disabled Veteran is a person who served this country and bears the scars of that service regardless of when or where they served.

Treat them with the upmost respect. I do. Rejection is not a sign of failure. Failure is not an option, Medical opinions and evidence wins claims. Trust in others is a virtue but you take the T out of Trust and you are left with Rust so be wise about who you are dealing with.

In Tennessee, there are free license plates for 100% service connected disabled veterans, Ex-POW's, and recipients of MOH, DSC, NC or AFC.
