Smr Records

Question

I can't figure this out! When I received copies of my SMR there wasn't a hospital record of my airbourne accident which was the only proof of it. The only record in my SMR was my exiting exam which I stated the accident in. But I still was awarded 30%, increased to 60% on right knee. NOW, I'm not complaining trust me! I was just wondering if the VA has any records that I don't? I'm about 100% sure they didn't award my claim just on my statement aone. I'm sure it's has to be that hospital record that I don't have. Has anybody been thru this before? I mean besides getting copies of my c:file, in which I'm going to do.

If you need the AB accident records pronto make an appointment at the RO to review your records. If it is there they will normally copy a few pages for you on the spot. However, to get a complete copy of your C-File you will have to request it and it will take a few weeks to a few months. Just depends on the work load at the RO.

I filled out a satement of claim earlier today rquesting one and sending it out tomorrow. Got any idea how long it takes to get an appointment? Thanks Ricky and welcome back!

I'm trying to help a VN vet (buddy of mine) get his SMR's from NARA and can't remember the process to request copies of them. Do we just fill out a

statement of claim form or is there a certain form to submit? He injured a tear duct from shrapnel in nam and is SC 10% back in 1968. His symptoms are

ten fold now and I been trying to get him to file for an increase. He finally agreed after I pried my foot out of his ***

Cooter,

under the tab,"SIZES" above the reply box, you can increase the font size to make it easier for us with vision problems to read your questions.

Use this site for all information on how to obtain service records.

I would request service records through this link before going to the VA for your records.

It may take around six weeks before you recieve them. About the same time or longer before you recieve a copy of your c-file.

C-files are not likely to have all military records.

When requesting military records, be specific to include,"ALL" military service records in your request useing the form SF-180.

Use our eVetRecs system to create your request

Mail or Fax a Standard Form SF-180

Thanks for the link for service records! I logged on the site and filled out the info, just to fnd out that was for your DD 214.ha. BUT I did fill out the SF-180 (which

was handy) and faxed it in yesterday. I did as you requested and stated ALL records including mental records, just in case I forgotten.

[Did you have to

fill out a request form and send it in to view the file?]

It is best tomake an appointment request to the VARO in writing.

I would use the standard,"Statement in Support of Claim " form.

Here's a link to the form...............

Statement in Support of Claim (Fillable)
