Question

I just wanted info .......I know a veteran, that's a friend of his that has stopped going to local VA outpatient clinic and don't go to any appo. to VAMC either ,,he has missed several now .He was on several strong pain meds. and the local VA doctor and VAMC wanted him to start going for pain management ,,but he says he is not going to go .My husband which is also a vet, told him he's afraid they will stop all his meds.{they have already stopped his pain meds.because he refused to go to pain management}.. he also takes meds for his heart ,,he doesn't think they will cut those out. My husband also takes meds for his heart and told him that they will have to keep a check on BP and Chlosterol,,they do my husbands,,,but the vet I'm talking about told my husband he don't think they will cut those meds out,,,but I we are thinking they will if he dosn't go for check-ups like he's suppose to ,,even private doctors will quit seeing you after a while if you don't ever go back for check-ups when you are suppose to.too.....His friend also gets a pension frpm VA ,with a small percentage of it is compensation. He says by not going won't bother his heart meds. neither his check he gets. My husband wanted me to post to see if anyone knows for sure which one is right ,,if anyone knows for sure or to see if there is anywhere we could find out. We are not trying to be busybodies ,,but are concerned for him and his future .Thanks for any info .you can give.

If they don't see him they will cut his meds as the script runs out

Veterans deserve real choice for their health care.

He must do what his doctor says, also, if he is on strong meds, he might be dependent on them and withdrawls might hit him like a mack truck..

Not in appeals, since I got 100%, and some of it was winning an 1151 negligence, which the VA turns out does not give ful benefits if you win 1151 negligence they squirm and legal loophhole you and your family out of many benefits, really crapp nasty bunch running the va benefits, they wil backstab and scre wyou even if you win you lose. It will also complicate things if he ever has to file for an increase for anything, as there will be a sizable gap in the treatment record.

(I AM NOT A RATER- I work the claims BEFORE they are rated, annotating medical evidence in your records, VA and Legal documents,  and DA/DD forms- basically a paralegal/vso/etc except that I also evaluate your records based on Caluza and try to justify and schedule the exams that you go to based on whether or not your records have enough in them to warrant those)

Pete is right, as the RX scripts run out or expire the drugs

will not just be re-newed.

Been there - still there - done that.

Thanks for reply to my post ,,Thats what we thought,,he is a good friend of my husband's ,thats why he is worried about him ,,I told him that he would just have to find out for himself ,since he won't listen to us........So what about his check ,,that won't interfere with that??

I know ,thats why the VA doctor wanted him in pain management ,,because he wouldn't give him anything any stronger ,thats why he got mad and said he wasn't going to pain management nor back to him. He said he was going to start smoking pot...........My husband is really about him ,,he's afraid he is going to get into street drugs since he said he was going to start smoking pot. ,,My husband doesn't take anything the VA doctor doesn't perscribe him,,thank God ,he isn't on any kind of pain meds ,,just heart meds.,,he don't smoke pot either. We don't know what to do about this ,,my husband feels helpless because he can't get through to him. I;m worried about my husband worrying about him , because I know he doesn't need this stress on him ,,he's had a heart attack a few years ago and has heart damage.

He doesn't need this worring ,,,,sorry for venting so long.
