navydoc2
My PCP told me that viagra was not on the VA formulary, but I was given levitra. Less complications with high blood pressure meds. I got my PCP to write a script for cialis. I was going to get filled on the outside out of pocket; but it was way too expensive almost $250 for ten pills. I refilled my levitra and called it a day lol /doc
Content Curator/HadIt.com Elder Vync Posted November 15, 2010 Content Curator/HadIt.com Elder Share Posted November 15, 2010 Here are some other alternatives and options regarding these meds: If you have private insurance, visit a non-VA cardiologist and ask for samples of ED meds. They may give you several brands to try. Get a pill-splitter (the VA can provide them) and take half or fourth instead of a whole pill. Be sure your doc knows you are doing this and also be sure you start taking initially lower doses because these meds can cause headaches or cardiovascular side effects. If you get scripts filled outside the VA: - Ask the doc to write for a higher dose and use the pill splitter to break them in half or quarters - Ask the pharmacist to fill for only the number of pills allowed by the insurance company - or whatever you can afford Additionally, the $95 or so bucks you can get from being SC for SMC-K are helpful when buying ED meds outside the VA. HadIt.com Elder allan Posted November 16, 2010 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted November 16, 2010 I don't see levitra, cialis or viagra on the VA formulary. Does VA provide any treatment for ED? http://www.pbm.va.gov/natform/VA%20National%20Formulary-October%202010.xls
