Question

I signed up for the $10,000 life Insurance policy, It states I must file a written application for a waiver of premiums and supply proof of disability. Can anyone tell me if my one page letter from the VA stating that I am 100% permanent and totally disabled be proof enough or would I have to supply the entire award decision? Also is there an application form I need to send with the proof? The letter from the National Service Life Ins. Policy has a PO box in Philly.Am I to assume that will be where I send the proof etc?

Thanks for any help

Yes, you can get the waiver and I think you might be able to get a refund on premiums paid after your were P&T. It is very easy to get the waiver if you are Total. I was TDIU but had no insurance. I got an extra 50% so I applied for the insurance 10,000 and asked for the waiver. I got it easily not like the usual VA claim. Same with ChampVA and the other stuff. The situation where you are trying to prove a claim is where the VA system breaks down completely.

............and, after you get signed up for the FIRST $10,000, for free, then you are eligible to buy ANOTHER $10,000 for a very paltry sum.

Right, and once you become a disabled vet with any physical problems such as DMII nobody will sell you insurance except the VA. 20,000 bucks is not that much if you have a family but it would defray the cost of funeral and final costs with some money left over to your spouse. When I was young and healthy life insurance was cheap. Now I could probably not buy it at all.

What is it that my Granddaddy used to say:

"If they know me like I know me they'd know me better than to sell me insurance!"

............exactly!
