MikeS
Hi all: Is there a VA regulation that states that keeping your VA appointments is not a reason to deny SMC Housebound benefits? Thanks MikeS
HadIt.com Elder Pete53 Posted April 8, 2011 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted April 8, 2011 Making medical appointments is ok and should not be counted. Maybe we should ask VA to make House Calls?
Berta
Missing a C & P exam will surely prompt them to deny. Other types of appointments -I would think- can be re-scheduled for good cause. Too many missed appointments doesn't look good. How did VA state this -if they used this as a basis to deny your claim?
HadIt.com Elder john999 Posted April 10, 2011 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted April 10, 2011 I get housebound and I go to VA appointments. They deny me for fee base for things I ask for, so what is my alternative using their reasoning?
HadIt.com Elder Pete53 Posted April 10, 2011 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted April 10, 2011 I was awarded SMC by effective Jan 1, 2007. To paraphrase my decision it stated that a Doctor had stated that I could make appointments with help from wife or son but that I had panic attacks when outside the home and I had symptoms of panic including high blood pressure. Although I can physically leave my house mentally I cannot without assistance. There fore SMC is warranted. If you can get a Doctor to confirm that even though you can make medical appointmets it is a problem I think you can beat this. What really screwed me was I had agoraphobia much worse when I was awarded 100% but the dumkoff continues to ignore my diagnosis

They denied SMC Housebound because I "do" make my doctor's appointments. Is that legal?? Thanks, Mike S.
