JT24usn
Went to roi to get treatment records for MH appts so I could file my claim. After an hour of sitting I was told that I would not get MH records that day. They have to Gi through MH first. Is there truth to this? Why do thru need to give the ok to release MY records to me? Notorious Kelly
I'm thinking it's an added layer of security for your protection, but that's just an opinion.
JT24usn
True, just didn't think sitting there for an hour and then finding that out was right. I know the varo can ppull the information from vamc, but I just wanted to seethe notes and see if it, the claim, was worth it. Thanks

Many times MH records won't be released without having an OK from the MH provider first. The logic is that a vet could get the MH records - go home and read them - wind up in a bad state of mind from reading the records and there is no MH provider there to help them thru it. navydoc2
They do the same thing at my clinic too. It usually only takes an extra day or two to get it. My mental health clinic is not in the same building as ROI so I usually just stop by there on my way to the pharmacy and make the request for records. I go back in two or three days and its been approved. You are not alone I think its SOP for mental health. /doc
JT24usn
No worries then. It's only been a week since the request. I can wait. Thanks for the info. Only reason I was curious is that I can get standard progress notes that day. The evaluating MH notes makes since now.
