Ptsd Claim

Rate this question

Hollis

Question

I went to my local VA office to see what was the hold up on my cue for my hearing loss back pay. We he read it on his computer that it is the way to the RO, now that is good I guess. But I also found out that there is no claim filed for PTSD, even thought I have an appointment with a swrink this coming May and been to group session and 16 weeks to go. So I went ahead and had him to file a claim for me. I also got a copy of the request. Now I just have to the waiting game. I do hope that with the appoveal of OT it will not take to long.

This makes me wonder about that whole "informal claim" business. When does that occur, exactly? My DH was talking to his therapist about filing a claim months before he actually did it.

Do you have to say you intend it? Maybe Hollis mentioned planning to do it in group... wouldn't that count?

And how do you tell the VA that your EED should be back when you told Dr. Jellystone that you were planning to file? Do you need a note from the Dr?

How's that work?

Hope your day is going okay, Hollis.

Let us be kind, one to another, for we are each of us together in our pain.

well I thought that was why I was sent to the MH back in Nov. Once there I found i=out it was a group session, after that I requested an appointment with a Psyc Dr. asn stated it in now schedule for May 02 an another session with the group May 24. But I am still got to go 16 weeks starting next week. I can not miss any of the meeting or I will be kicked out. That is Dr.Marti rule. I will post back what happen.

thanks for the response.

Hollis, If you filed a Claim for PTSD, the VA should have mailed you a Notice that said they recieved your claim. Did you send the VA a written claim, or did your service officer file it for you?

Hope you get your back-pay soon!

16 week program should be interesting! Are you amongst friends, are you liking the classes so far? Hang in there!! ~Wings

Wings as stated before, I thought I did, but just found out this passed week that a claim was not filed. So I had my VSO to file one for me. I know I will get a notice once it go thru the system. I did look up the Dr I will be seeing on the VA web site and he/she is not listed. Yes 16 weeks is a long time, but we will be OK. thanks for the replies.
