Motherof3
Still a battle for Desert Storm/Shield veterans (pre OEF/OIF) to get recognition/compensation. Especially females.
63SIERRA
they are doing a little different trick with us desert storm vets, they had to pay the vietnam vets,(becasue of the neimer actions, ) but they denied thier ilnesses as long as they could. They know that in this day in age, its and information age, and they cannot hide the information from our generation, but what they do is use trickery, by saying they pay us for undiagnosed ilnesses , but they will not leave an ilness undiagnosed if you are a desret storm vet, the FIND a diagnosis real quick, to deny you. thats thier modern day modus operandi. If you have sleep disturbance, they call it sleep apnea and deny you.. its like a one leg man in an ass kicking contest, you cannot win, Edited October 8, 2013 by 63SIERRA
63SIERRA
studies are showing alot of kidney cancer amnong DS vets, but they are holding tight on the info, they should be screening DS vets to see if they have kidney issues because its a silent killer., also they are finding DS vets brains are different that non DS vets. why arent they doing aggressive studies to try and find out what it is. The brittish soldiers who served in DS , got comprehensive detox, cheaitn therapy, and generous compensation packages fromn thier govt. Why , because they acknowledged thier ilnesses. Brittain is not a huge country like hours, anf the govt know,s if they dont take care of thier troops, they wont have anyone to defend thier country. " Yep. That is why it is important to get your med records and your C-file. Because sometimes the thing they diagnose you with (to keep from paying you for an undiagnosed illness) will actually be in your medical records -- but they won't bother to tell you that.... 63SIERRA
ITS A SCREWED UP SYSTEM. in the beginning you cant hire as lawyer, and they say they have a duty to assist you. But they dont assist you, they take advantage of your ignorance, because its not what we as veterans do. we dont know any better. So once we screw up by trusting the va to " assist " us, and they dont, it puts us at an immediate disadvantage . we are in catch up mode from the start.. its like running a race against the va, and we have a time limit and they dont, and they get a head start, and we dont. Motherof3
So true. I am noticing an increase in Thyroid issues and Thyroid Cancer in Gulf War/Afghanistan War Veterans. Once you're diagnosed with PTSD/MDD, they try to lump all your complaints, signs and symptoms into it: Insomnia, nerve pain, muscle/body aches, constipation, heart palpitations, piercing pains in head, fainting spells, unexplained weight loss, Metarsalgia/Plantar Fasciatis, Tinnitus, feet imbalance................... I mean the Raters not the doctors. Doctors treat individual complaints. They've forgotten about VA PACT Plan for veterans medical and mental care. Whew, I got carried away!
