John Rossie continually updates his site:

and Commander John Wells has testified with him and been on TV many times on this issue as you know.

The VA has done a good job,in my opinion, by updating the AO ship's list as to exposed vessels and their crews, and much of their updating has come solely due to BWN vets proving to them how close their ships were to Vietnam shores.

The original AO Equity Act is still in progress with a name change:

.Washington, Oct 28, 2013 -

“This evening, the House passed veterans legislation that included a bill written by Congressman Chris Gibson. This bill, H.R. 1494, the Blue Water Navy Ship Accountability Act, was introduced in April, and is part of the Congressman’s effort to ensure Vietnam veterans get the benefits they have earned and deserve. The Blue Water Navy Ship Accountability Act was incorporated into H.R. 2189, which passed the House 404-1 today.”

A link to the Congressman’s floor speech on the bill can be found here: http://youtu.be/qLJlmIDZQsc. The floor speech mentions constituent and advocate Carol Olszanecki from Ellenville, who lost her husband John to Agent Orange related illnesses.”

Carol is always in contact with me on the latest on this bill. She has been a relentless AO BWN advocate along with John Rossie and Commander Wells and sue Belanger in getting this bill as far as it has gotten so far.

I will post here any Ships list updates and news on HR 1494 as it develops.

I spoke with JR last night and there are a couple of new documents. I administer the BWN members forum and if he can't get them uploaded soone he'll send them to me and I'll post them to his site. They'll also be on my Blue Water Sailors of the Vietnam War site and forum.

    • I would like to meet other Hadit members who live in Michigan.  We have at least two major VA Hospitals (Battle Creek, Ann Arbor).  Or maybe you go to the the John Dingell in Detroit.

I like Ann Arbor.  I like the fact that most of the doctors there are also at the UM Hospital.  I don't like how uickly they seem to turn over though.

    • Really?
I am confused.  A few days ago I spoke to a person at a VARO who said if I die from something other than service-connected my husband gets zero, zilch, squat.  Hmmmmmm, it seems the rules change willy-nilly...I have been rated 100% P & T for over 10 years, MS is static, and I am 56 years of age.

Can a fellow Veteran shed a light on this?

      Thank you.

The site is supported through ads and ad free subscriptions, we are also asking for any support you would like to send our way. You can give a $1 or more it all helps. Keep in mind though that it is NOT tax deductible and we are NOT a non profit. As the site grows so do the costs and ads and subscription do not always keep pace with the costs. Any help is appreciated, but not required.
