Question

I was told by someone that you cannot have SSDI and VA Disability payments at the same time. You can file and recieve one or the other, but, not both.

Is this true?

If not; Will the Social Security Office go by the VA findings and ratings?

Wanting to Retire with the most I am entitled to legally.

Like PR stated. You can receive both at the same time.

In my case, I received my social security prior to receiving my VA compensation.

I retired from the Military in 2010, received my social security in 2011, then my VA compensation in 2013.

I don't believe they went by my VA records, but they might have used my Military records tho.

Oh by the way. I didn't Medically retire from the Military.

My retirement was a regular retirement, but I did have a lot of medical issues, but chose to retire with time of service.

I am rated 100% P&T by the VA now PTSD is the primary percentage at 100%. Plus I have 30% Sinusitis and 10% Tinitus. Rated as a Disability of 100%.

I do not know at this time which would be more $$$. A regular retirement now at 63 y/o or SSDI.
