I too hope CHAMPVA will help alot for your child. Remember CHAMPVA must be applied for first and I am sure your spouse can apply at their website.

I hope you have saved any past medical bills because CHAMPVA EEDs are the same as a 100% P & T EED

and can be retro.to that date.

I have CHAMPVA and it is wonderful.I used CHAP 35 DEA too and that was also GREAT!

You made some points here that MANY need to read!!!!! and read again

"I then went thru my STRs with a fine tooth comb" YES!

"My advice to anyone fighting the VA is NEVER GIVE UP!!!" You bet!

"When I first started trying to get compensation I consulted with a Pro Bono Attorney. She told me she would not help me because I did not have a shot at any compensation."

That is what my former state vet rep told me for my 2003 claim.

I swiftly informed their state attorney, for my former POA , when I won well over 6 figures in benefits.(what a bunch of dopes)

"When the VA tells you NO don't give up"

When a vet rep discourages you ,Never give up!

When a lawyer discourages you Never give up.! I helped a vet locally who had 2 lawyers who never once looked at his SMRs. Neither did his rep.
He lost twice at the CAVC but he never gave up.

I found his nexus in his SMRs.His last BVA decision (denial) contained a clue that I ran with. And after he won I prepared a NOD to stave off what VA wanted to pay his lawyers. They didnt do diddly squat for him but sure wanted a chuck of the retro.

I used the regulations themselves that control how VA pays lawyers from an award.

During the often long claims process, a claimant has plenty of time to get the evidence they need.

And Probative Evidence is the only thing that matters!

GRADUATE ! Nov 2nd 2007 American Military University !

When thousands of Americans faced annihilation in the 1800s Chief

Osceola's response to his people, the Seminoles, was

simply "They(the US Army)have guns, but so do we."

Sameo to us -They (VA) have 38 CFR ,38 USC, and M21-1- but so do we.
