Parkinson's With Major Depression

Question

Hi everone, I am new and this is my first post. I am currently SC for 70%. I just recieved my new claim for Parkinson's and only recieved 40% total. They tied my basic 30% Parkinsons together with my 30% Major Depression and only gave me 30% for the two, I had antother 10% item and several ohers that were noncompensable. I was very disapointed. The big question though has anyone ever hear of them combining Parkinsons and Major Depression together like that and giving only 30% for both and not 60%? I would appreciate any help.

Thanks Casey

Casey, that totally sucks. The VA gets away with a lot of this type of stuff. Issues like this should be challenged in court.

Tell me about it. A Rep from DAV is attemping to get them seperated as there was a seperate DBQ and different date for Depression from the Parkinson' s DBQ with all of the other stuff. Dont know if he can, have not been able to contact him since our mtg. I am woundering what form or process he will actual do in this case to get it resolved. Anyone have an idea?

Thanks again

Casey

Is the Parkinsons from your exposure to Agent Orange?

Have you checked our VA Schedule of Ratings here to see how you feel the medical evidence was rated for each condition?

Did you file for Parkinsons as secondary to the depression? (which would not make sense) or for the depression as secondary to the Parkinsons?

I dont think you did and this is why that rating does not make any sense.

Did Parkinsons ( if you were incountry Vietnam) ever appear as a NSC disability in any past rating you got?

"I am currently SC for 70%"

Did the rating consider you for TDIU if you are unemployed?

Bizarre rating.....

Can you scan and attach the Reasons, Bases and Evidence list here from the decision?

(Cover C file number, name, address prior to scanning)

Hi Berta,

Thanks for responding. Yes I am a Vietnam vet with agent orange exposure. My first claim was presumptive type 2 at 60%, Now I just finished my second with presumtive Parkinson's with only 40%. I sent in the manual FDC quick for Parkinson's as the only disability. I went to a C&p as before but this time with VA people, before was out side. A nurse gave me the C&P exam and turned me over to a Doc for the Dementia and Cognition questions. As it turned out i recieved a seperate C&P at a later date for that portion. I did not recieve any info about TDIU.

Sorry this is late and thank for you concern.

Casey, On my agent orange claim my DBQ for Parkinson's listed depression and sleep deprivation separately and when I was awarded 90 percent, the break down was 30 percent for Parkinson's and 30 percent for depression and sleep deprivation combined plus the other disabilities arms legs etc. They are rating you wrong. Did you have a DBQ? GOD BLESS
