C and P Exam For Knee

Hello everyone

I have seen setup for a  C& P exam on the 27th of jan  for a knee injury(torn medial ligaments etc) from the service,I did a fully developed claim but was sent for a  C& P exam,my question is on the day of the exam will they do xrays and an mri to confirm my injury or is this something they would send me to have done on my own, this is my first time for a comp claim

The VA doctor or physicians assistant or nurse or janitor will be going by the prescribed DBQ for knee injury.  Familiarize yourself with it, answer it yourself before you go for C&P exam.  You can go here for the DBQ:   http://www.vba.va.gov/pubs/forms/VBA-21-0960M-9-ARE.pdf

When I had a C & P for knees they did the X-ray the same day, after the C & P exam was complete.  If they do an MRI they will probably schedule it a later date since it is more involved.  If it is a recent injury they may use any images that were done at the time of the injury.  Range of motion has been the deciding factor in C & P exams I have had for all joints.  Good luck.

Have you been going to VAMC or did you have military or private medical treatment for your knee injury?

Range of motion. Instability of knee. clicking or popping. Xrays definitely. I am service connected for right knee.

Did you have a Nexus letter in your FDC?

A lot of times, if you did, and if it was worded correctly, the C&P exam only deals with the degree of disability.  Most of the time getting a specialist to provide a nexus with your service records will get your injury service connected.  Without that, its a crap shoot, most of the time a C&P examiner is not a specialist (PA or general practitioner etc).
