1st VA Appointment

Question

I filed for disability in Dec. 2015. Last week I received a letter stating the only medical records which could be found were from MEPS. Nothing more.

Fast forward a week later and I get a phone call from the VA saying they want me to make an appointment to see them.

Since this is my first run in with the VA. Does anyone have any helpful suggestions? Should I bring my own personal doctors medical records to support my argument, etc....

Thanks in advance

Assuming you are talking about a VHA appointment.  I would recommend sending the Dr. a Secure message, giving a full run down of your conditions, the pain you are experiencing, etc... in great detail.  This messages become part of your VA notes and permanent record.  Be very verbose and detailed.  This will help alleviate relying on your provider to state your symptoms.

I have started doing this and it's worked very well.

you stated

''This messages become part of your VA notes and permanent record.''

Are you referring to Myhealthvet Notes?

If so what is the time line for the secure messages to be scanned into the Myhealthyvet Notes?

Note: My reason asking  I can't seem to find any secure massaging from my PCP in the Notes Section?

Maybe there some where else and I'm not looking in the correct place?

Thanks

Some times the VA don't try to get all our records, so its left up to us to try to get them unless you have a decent /honest VSO helping you,

Here is the link to NRPC in St Louis.

(National Records Personal Center)

https://www.archives.gov/st-louis/

I suggest to contact them request your Medical Records and 201 file..in your Request  actually say All My Medical Records.

And any possible Military Service Records (MSR)

Sign a FIOA form   which this likely you will have in this link,  just copy from PDF and send it back to them electronically.

Also Request a Redacted copy of your C-FILE.

Do this ASAP.

Hi Buck,

If you download the info with the Big Blue Button and check VA Notes.  They should be part of your medical records that come down.   They should not need to be scanned should just be there.  There may be a 3 day delay like all Dr notes.  I had an issues were notes would not pull down with my Big Blue Button.  I had to open a ticket with IT and the "developers" had to fix it.  Took about 8 weeks.

Yes  understand the Blue button and how to get to the VA Notes, but my PCP Secure Massage that she reply's/writes back in email/secure massages is not in my Notes? its been longer than 3 days..I can't find them if there in my Notes?

I can go to the secure Massages open it and the Notes are there but not in Myhealthvet Notes With the other Notes.

kinda like a little email bag with messages and reply's.

Based on my experience, you should see them in the BBB.  I even see when the Nurse documents a phone call for me asking for a refile or other things.
