seejeremy
Hi everyone. I have a question about SMC S and K. I am 100% P&T. Am I entitled to SMC-S? I have the following ratings: major depressive disorder recurrent 70% obstructive sleep apnea 50% benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) 40% scar anterior neck status post tracheostomy 30% sciatica, right lower extremity 40% sciatica, left lower extremity 20% deviated septum status septoplasty and bilateral turbinate reduction 10% (replaced by next line?) allergic rhinitis with deviated septum status septoplasty and bilateral turbinate reduction (previously rated under DC6502) 10% sinusitis 10% (secondary to above) gastroesophageal reflux disease (gerd) 10% right medial epicondylitis 10% scar, left thumb s/p laceration. 0% hypertension 0% Also, how does SMC-K work for loss of creative organ? I am not rated for it, but I do mention it with my VA mental health doc from time to time? Thanks everyone.
HadIt.com Elder Buck52 Posted August 28, 2017 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted August 28, 2017 To get SMC K you need to apply or it with medical evidence, & have a VA E.D. Diagnose ,if you have that and can prove loss of use of organ from direct military service or a secondary disability and or VA Prescribe medications and a Dr to state this is related to your ED. E.D. is a non rated disability and usually S.C. at 0% but paid an additional 103.53 $$ monthly with all your other PAYMENTS You should contact your local VA regional office for information about applying for SMC. In determining eligibility for SMC, the VA must review the applicable medical evidence and then make a decision regarding the level of SMC to be paid. I am not an Attorney or VSO, any advice I provide is not to be construed as legal advice, therefore not to be held out for liable BUCK!!!
seminoles
I think men have a much high success rate with SMC K as they can get viagra prescribed, women there is no medication, we can complain and have it noted about the sexual side effects of our meds and very few of us get SMC K for the impact the meds do to our sex lives. Another kick in the ass from uncle sam for female vets. Good thing we are used to it after all these years lol. seejeremy
seejeremy
Thanks Buck. I don’t yet have a diagnosis of E.D., but after hoping things would get better for 2 years, I’ve decided to pursue it. I just had an appointment with my MH doc and he mentioned that the blood pressure meds could be doing it. I have an appointment with my primary care doc at the VA in a few weeks and I’ll make sure to discuss it then. Any idea on the SMC-S? If I’m understanding what I’ve been reading, then I don’t qualify because I do not have a single item rated at 100%, nor am I TDIU. I am 100% P&T though. Thanks for the help! Moderator broncovet Posted August 28, 2017 Moderator Share Posted August 28, 2017 Sometimes I feel like a broken record. There are 2 ways to get to SMC S, not one. For Statuatory SMC S, yea, you probably need a single 100 percent rating. However, for "housebound in fact" you need to be "substantially confined" to your premesis, and unable to leave the home "for work".

Sorry for asking the question, I looked it up and just got more confused the more I read. Thanks again.
