I remember about 3 or 4 years ago I got very sick with the flu /Pneumonia and had a hard time breathing, spouse called the VA and ask if we could go to our nearest E.R.  b/c the VAMC was about 22 mles away and thru heavy traffic...the triage nurse she talk to said yes go ahead and go to t he E.R.

(They can go back and check these calls)

later on we got billed 3.000.00 for that private ER Visit I took the Bill to the VA and they ask if we had called the VA before we went to the E.R. and got an ok? ( yes mam)......she checked that record and said OH Yeah I see it here..anyway that lady at the VA mention to us what all we had to do and who to contact...this was it  the VA Paid that entire Bill.

Your Post makes it much easier now.

@Buck52You're welcome. I had a heck of a time with an ER bill myself.

For that reason, I pretty much "dont" go to the ER, "other than VA".
