Second signature no longer needed

Rate this question

Question

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I filed a claim back in 2017 that was denied twice.  I appealed the decision and it was deferred late last year.  This past Thursday, I noticed the appeal claim moved to Preparation for notification and under the Files on VA.gov it shows "Second signature, no longer needed."  Does anyone have a clue what that could mean?  At the very least, I know it is coming to an end soon but hopefully I can finally say that I am done fighting for this particular issue.  Again, any help is appreciated!  Thank you in advance.

It is a procedural VA step. One possibility, and I am not saying it applies in your case, the amount of monetary settlement has to go thru levels based on total value. But there certainly other reasons why signatures are required. It does seem that you are getting close to closure though.

Thank you for your response!  I just have never seen that on any of my other claims...that was all new to me so it kind of raised a red flag for me.  I thought they were waiting for a signature from me for some reason.

Sorry, man. Do you plan on appeal. If you provide enough details, this forum may be able to help. It's up to you.

That was my appeal...I do plan to keep fighting.  I do not think they considered all of my submitted evidence but won't know anything until I get my letter.

you would think, right? nope it is just an artifact of the internal messages that VA chooses to display to us as if they mean anything to us except more stress.

I have noted that in those messages various ones say "request no longer needed" or "files no longer needed" What that typically means is they got what is no longer needed.

It is a really bad way to say it, but I suspect that is what it means. Which is good because awards that need two or more signatures are usually largish.
