Question

My claim for popliteal aneurysms was received at the BVA on March 17, 2020. So finally my claim was distributed to a veteran law judge  on May 10, 2022 and the status so far just says that a veteran law judge is reviewing my claim since May 10, 2022. On July 10, it will be under review for two months! Does anyone know why my claim is taking so long to decide? Thanks Mark Z.

Yes it can be.  Unless you have a hardship. I know these will move faster and there could be hardships that have to be done, that will push others back.

Mine has been at the same stage as you since June 3rd 2021.  We just passed the 1 year threshold and this is a prior BVA decision, so it should have gone back to the front of the docket.

I know things changed since I went the frist time, but it sat at the BVA for almost 4 years.

I don't understand why veterans ask,

I  have no insight as to why the BVA takes as long as it does. I had a claim at the BVA for over two years before it was decided. I will take a guess that your claim is taking a long time because there are a pile of claims before yours.  I just submitted a new claim to the BVA, I expect it to be decided in about 2.5 years.  It should not take so long, but it does and the VA does not give a darn about the timelines.

The VA is working to clear the legacy appeals out of the system this year.  As of the last report, I saw there were not going to make it but the majority of judges are working legacy vs AMA.

Richard1954- Then the BVA should NOT post the status as "A Judge is Reviewing Your Appeal", if in fact they are working on other appeals and really NOT reviewing MY appeal! Like I said, MY appeal was received at the BVA in March of 2020. On May 10th 2022, the status now says that "A Judge is Reviewing Your Appeal"!!!!!!!!!!!!

So is everyone saying that it could be years with the status of "A Judge is Reviewing Your Appeal"?????
