Overseas (Expat) Vets, 2nd class citizens..... why?

Recommended Posts

To use your wee phrase..... just curious..... where do you plan to relocate?  Taxes aside there are other issues you might need to think on. Health insurance for one. Germany recognises Tricare. This for me is massive. Otherwise I'd pay roughly 750€ per month on health insurance. A driving license is another. Are you planning on the EU or someplace else?

well retirement is few years off...so things can change a lot...just always keeping my options open and thinking about whats out there...i have heard of some just keeping us as home base and traveling vs moving...might be the route we go...just depends on how bad i get in my later years with my SC issues...

After Vietnam in 1970 I spent over 10 years in SE Asia and ME flying commercial helicopters and used local medical facilities when needed on the rare occasions.  Singapore that was my overseas home most of the time had then and now the most excellent 5 Star health system. Next was Bangkok and when I flew in the Middle East in Egypt I maintained a small apartment in Zurich and the Swiss has excellent medical care that I never needed even in winter with only the sniffles.

Today at age 76 with several medical issues I choose to live in a large city with many close choices of VA and private medical care. I do frequently make short term remote fishing and camping trips in Calif and Nevada.
