Question

Is there anywhere on Hadit to post information about other benefits people have found/ I learned today that as a SC vet we get free access to many National parks, and 50% off of camping at thousands of campgrounds in many federal locations Forest Service, Corp of Engineers, National Parks, Tenessee Valley Authority, Bureau of Land Management. I found info on www.recreation.gov . are there other programs that you all have found that may be of assistance. primarily something with significant discounts not the standard 10 to20 percent that is given for hotels and the such. Any free or 50% and greater is what I am curious about. Thanks!

The California PDF that was posted is good material. They alluded to regular life insurance waiver of premiums, but seemed to want to center in on the VA Ins., or the Calif Vet Mortgage Ins. If you have a loan with any commerical lender, or life Ins. check to see if you have a waiver of premiums or payments. While I was 60% TDIU we got a PLUS loan for my son to go to school. After I was rated SMC, the bank wrote off the balance because my disability had gotten worse.

i like this posting. Unfortunately, this type of information is never really told to you. Like Bertha says, it's a good idea to check into these things.....I'm adding favorites to my Internet Explorer.

Almost all state websites have veteran's benefits posted. I have found just doing a search within a website I can usually find what I need. Any time we know we're visiting a state, I go to that website and look around. Like a year ago I went to Kansas and wanted to go fishing, I was able to get a discounted license. Most places that offer discounts/ services, require you bring your determination letter or VA ID. When you go for recreational activities, be sure to tell them your a SC Veteran, I have found if they offer special discounts they won't tell you up front.

Here is a list of all the state websites. They are in alphabetical order. Maybe Tbird can find an appropriate place to put these.

Is everyone aware that if you are Total Disability to call your local utlitizes and inform them that your disabled. In NY they have protections, I am sure they do elsewhere.
