Posting Problems

Recommended Posts

Heck -I am posting in wrong place for this-but it took so long to get on line again- I will see if it posts here-

I have had considerable problems all week- I dont have a lot of time to save stuff in word and then re-post-

I tried two separate programs to get here- that wasnt the problem- I finally figured out what is wrong-

My Spy scanner and my anti Virus programs have been kicking in almost every time I get to hadit-

one program takes some time to run -my PC is loaded-and it scans everything-

That seems to be why I cant post- it only happens here-

The VA site and my school etc- and many other sites are OK to get to and I am at 100 MBPS on the sattelite-with no problems.

Is anyone else having this problem- that your anti virus kicks in here and you cannot post or the virus scan slows down everything?

It just kicked in again.

I will be off line here until I figure out where these pings are coming from that keeps getting my antivirus to kick in when I am at hadit.

(not the usual upgrade anti virus protection you all get automatically with a re-boot-- this is different situation than that)

It seems to be that I am picking up an infected executable file here.

I would have to do a lot of backtracking on a week's posts to see what file that could be-

probably an attachment-from somone's PC.

Word or any attachment -if infected-can pass these infections on to anyone who opens an attached word doc unless they have updated antivirus, firewalls, and spyware etc-

I cannot imagine anyone using a PC without that stuff.

But they do.

I have had to use word to copy and paste my posts lately but my

programs are all virus free-

and of course my antivirus is not allowing the infected file to compromise my system.

My Firewall shows no recent events at all-

Best I can figure -after accessing what my virus program is telling me-there is an infected executable file here- from maybe the beginning of the week or last week-

probably as an attachment from a presonal PC to someone's post.

It won't bugger anyone's PC as long as they have full updated antivirus protection.

(my virus scan clicked on as soon as I just came here again)

Berta;

I don't see any virus activity from Hadit. Try this.

Clear your Cache of IE. Turn off System Restore, reboot. Turn it back on.

See if that helps.

Sometimes U can run across stuff and it will keep a copy in System Restore file.

I did that 2 days ago but will try again- it happens not only via IE but also my AOL hadit access.A completely different program I use sometimes.

Nothing weird in my emails- and I just spent quite a bit of time at my school on line and went to about 22 hyperlink sites for an essay I had to do- and had no problems until I just clicked here again-and the virus scanner clicked on immediately---

I will just keep checking my system-

I dont have any virus at all just cant figure out why I am getting per the anti-virus info an "infected executable file" here-that the Antivirus is stopping on my PC anyhow.

Weird. My firewall is fine too.Nothing has been zapped lately on the spy zapper either.

Tnaks for the advice!

What OS? I assume WinXP? If 98 then your Infected. If XP and you don't keep the patches current, guess what. Your infected more than not.

What Virus Scanner? Is it kept updated? Daily? If Norton's or Trial version (one that expires in 90 days) that would let the nasty thru.

But sometimes just visiting the wrong website (I have done it, and I am not saying Porn) can cause problems.

If it was my machine I would run:

AVG Anti Spyware - Free for 30 days, then only scanner not active defense.

Change to AVG if your using Norton's (AVG Anti Virus Free)

If you have not kept the patches from Microsoft up to date I highly recommend you reload Windows and apply all patches (from behind Hardware Firewall).

I doubt Hadit is infected. With AOL having problems it sounds like your end to me.

Can you get a name of the Virus?
