hypertension Sleep Study Last Night, Apnea/insomnia Rating Question
I currently have a 10% rating for "Insomnia". Along with my other sc'ed disabilities (hypertension, GERD, DDD/DJD, etc.., I am at 50% right now. I had a sleep study performed in service which showed very mild apnea. In my rating decision for Insomnia, it states I was diagnosed with a very mild sleep apnea which did not require treatment. I have been having more sleep problems lately. Had a new sleep study performed last night at the VA hospital. They said it would be 2-3 weeks before the official word and the Dr to look it over but the sleep technician said that it looks like I have a significant sleep apnea when Im on my back which I was on for about half the nig…

An Iu Claim Versus The Appeal
Veterans and friends of Hadit, I will try to keep it simple. I want to know how big a mistake (perhaps) was made when I submitted an NOD requesting increase that would be converted to IU and a formal claim for IU at the same time. VA has finally got around to sending letter to elect DRO or BVA. Claim for IU is waiting for employer data with a very strong C&P and DAV letter suggesting IU. My thought is they want to say the issues are "inextricably intertwined" and cancel my formal IU claim to combine these into a DRO process. Can they do that? I think DAV wants me to drop the claim so I cant drop them if my formal claim is denied-does that make any sense. Bottom lin…

Va Has Truly Improved
I just received copies of my retired va medical records no smr. I was in new orleans va hospital in the late 1980's. They couldn't spell my last name right not even close. sentence in the report really had me pissed. She was then evaluated and treated by a questionable army doctor and/or sick call. First off I was in the air force and the so called queationable doctor was a neurologist at keesler medical center. Va doctor was a medical doctor not a neurologist.

Simultaneously Contested Claim
I had a denial from a dro appeal. The ssoc says If you wish to respond you have 60 days from the date of this letter to respond (or 30 days if this is a "simultaneoously contested claim). You can simply write and to tell us in your own words what you disagree with in this ssoc and why. Will they look at this denial again at the dro level instead of going to the bva.

Gen Counsel Regs
Men and women -I know I have griped here lately about repetious questions- these things take time from someone else's question --- but then again I sure repeat the regs a lot here myself- and they bear repeating- Alan posted this I believe the first time- I just sent a copy of this to a rep on my POA whose email was offensive: and last night I mentioned this reg briefly as time ran out on our SVR Braodcast but I am sure I told listeners that I would post it here for them to read- or maybe mention it in detail in a future broadcast- This applies in my opinion to any representation that is faulty and negligent and also -as in my case- an illegal VCAA letter …

Military Provided Cigarettes
B) Yesterday I ask my husband if he remembered getting small packs of cigarettes in his individual meal packages. He said yes, in fact he told me also about sea rations where the GI's also got cartons of cigarettes. All brands were given out for free. I don't believe this is done today but I question how the VA can refuse payment because of smoking in the military. My husband is a Vietnam vet and he went into the Army at the age of 17. A non smoker until then spending nine years in the Army. He left the military a smoker and continued smoking another 6 years then quit. That was 35 years ago. To me the fact that the GI's were given cigarettes for free with meals tells m…

Despirately Need Advice
:D Hi, This is from JSM754.Earlier I found out that my Motion for Reconsideration that had been Granted went before the Expanded Panel for Review on 16 July 2007, with me having no chance to submit any further argument. This may or may not be a Good Thing. I can only hope that whatever Error the Reviewer found causing my Motion to be Granted will be upheld by the Expanded Panel.

hypertension Hypertension...secondary Blood Clots, Copd With Lung Fibrosis/honeycombing?
I'm helping a veteran who was treated for hypertension in service (on medication). Several years after discharge, he had multiple episodes of blood clots, one of which was a pulmonary embolism that damaged/scarred his lung. Later, he was diagnosed with COPD with emphysema--many years after service and after stopping smoking (started with military-provided cigs). The veteran says he had several different tests to rule out known blood disorders that could cause the abnormal clotting, and all of them were ruled out. One of his private doctors told him (only verbally...and the doctor is dead now) that the emphysema was related to smoking, but the COPD was secondary to hyperte…
