ptsd Depression And Cognitive Disorders (not Specified)
I have a question as to what exactly do they mean when they say (Not otherwise specified) next to Depression and Cognitive Disorders? I have not been able to find the diagnostic codes that would apply to these. I have read on Hadit other vets C&Ps that have stated Depression, Chronic and either Severe, Moderate, or Mild. I am confused when my C&P stated in AXIS I: 1. PTSD, Chronic, 2. Depression, not otherwise specified, 3. Cognitive Disorder, not otherwise specified. Can someone explain what these mean and where to find the diagnostic code that relates to them? Thanks, RockyA

ptsd Claims Center Screwing Me
Recently i filed a VA claim for benefits for PTSD. Plenty of stressors but, VA states the first time it was denied that 1. They cant find my medical records anywhere. 2. That they cant find the related stressors that im talking about. The thing that really takes the cake is that i wrote a letter to the senator of missouri where im from and he writes me back with a letter that is going to the place in Virginia to help me find my unit records that definitely has the stressors that i need for my claim. I called the VA claims center and asked them if they used the place in Virginia that specializes in getting the stressor information for PTSD claims and they said that they di…

Help In Getting Sc For Scoliosis
I could really use some assistance in getting SC for Scoliosis. Here is my story: I was not detected with Scoliosis until 3 months after discharge, this was at my first C/P exam. I attempted to file a claim for SC but was told by the VA that this is a constitutional or developmental abnormality for which SC can not be granted. My back condition was not detected on entrance or exit exams, nor did I complain of back pain during military service for fear of being washed back or belittled, so I treated myself with over-the-counter medications. I remember bending over on my entrance exam for him to check my spine but do not recall it on the exit. I do have proof from a pre-…

Old Vs New Evidence
Hello Everyone, I wanted to drop a line regarding some SC issues, maybe it will help someone else. I had a spinal fusion of T8-L4 with Harrington rods while on AD in 1992. After being medically discharged, i began my appeals through the VA. Three years ago I had xrays of my spine done at the VA. It revealed extensive osteopenia of the spine. My VA doc told me it was probably due to the Harrington rods, which severely limited my range of motion to my spine. Around the same time I had a nerve conduction study that showed I had distal and sensory neuropathy with radiculopathy in my left leg. Once I had the results of these studies I submitted them as new evidence for an i…

M21-1 Adj. Procedure Manual
I found this in the M21-1, but don't know if I should include this in my husband's claim, since it might have changed. M21-1, Part I April 19, 2002 Change 86 Erratum a. General. If entitlement to SMC under 38 U.S.C. 1114 exists on account of the loss, or loss of use, of both lower extremities, the veteran also meets the requirements for specially adapted housing under 38 U.S.C. 2101. Conversely, entitlement to specially adapted housing because of loss or loss of use of both lower extremities also meets the requirements f…

Trying To Have A Law Amended With My Claim
Believe it of not, when I volunteered back in 1975, I had gone in with 3 Knowles (screw Pins) pins in my left hip. The pins were in place, due to an earlier in life, greater trochanter neck garden 3 variety. It healed well. I ended up injuring that hip in the service. I was awarded 10% from the VA. One pin appeared to have penetrated the Acetabular (joint space) and was damaging the the socket. In 1977, I was operated on by a VA doctor (quack) and he had removed the retaining nuts, clipped the pins even with the bone and called it a day. The penetrating pin was still in the joint. When I spoke with the doctor, he had stated that he could NOT remove the pins fr…

Tuid Perm & Total And Rental Property Income
Can a veteran who is rated 100% TUID P&T be allowed to receive rental income? I am assuming this would be considered an investment. One investment property, and a single family home, and this money is for the use of a home being rented out. I am assuming rental income is not earned or money you had to work for. This is for allowing someone to live and use your home. Or is this viewed as owning a bussiness? Or is this viewed as substantially gainfully employment? Does it matter weather it was inherited or you just purchase it for an investment? Can anyone please help. I'm posting this for the second time. For some reason it is not showing up with everybody else's post …

hypertension Need Help In Understanding Varo Letters
My husband currently has claims sitting at the VARO. Some of these are remands back from the BVA. Others are new claims. The ones from the BVA, on remand, have been back at the VARO since the first of February 05. Last week, we get a letter from them telling us that they are currently working on these claims (minus one which I will discuss later). They want us to send in medical records or any other evidence which we may have. They even sent us Release of Information Forms to fill out. They also listed the evidence which they have currently received from us. Well, I have sent them letters explaining exactly what we are claiming, why we are claiming it, gave them t…
