Need Help And Info
I will try to make a long story short. Retired from USAF April 03. Submitted claim Aug 04 Received rating Aug 05. On my initial claim listed Exposure to Asbestoses. On rating Asbestos was not mention. Went to register for the Gulf War registry. I was given complete physical on October 6th. Yesterday I got the results scaring on my lungs due to Asbestos. I had already sent in a NOD on my rating My question for the group does anybody know now what to expect health wise. I mean the VA does not tell me anything and to tell you the truth I am a little worried about scaring of the lungs. Thanks for any info. Jim

Imo Letter
I am trying to help my civilian Doctor by advising him as to what to say on an IMO for the VA. I am filing for upper body Neuropathay. A VA Doctor has diagnosed lack of feeling and strength in both hands. I will enclose and highlite those statements. My doctor should state the Neuropathy condition as secondary to DMII, a statement as to why he is qualified to make such a diagnosus (I have treated many Diabetics for many years, experience, etc.). Any other advice would be appreciated. Thanks! Terry Sturgis

ptsd Just Filed Today
Hi! If you didn't see my newbee post, my name is Aimee. I just seperated from the Navy after 6 great and 3 not so great years. I filed with a DAV today. My issues are my back (one of the joints right by your spine) and mental health. (What I believie to be Service aggervated MMD and service connected GAD) The DAV didn't seem to have too much to say as far as me having a good shot at getting anything. Just said he's send the paperwork off with my SMR and that I should hear from the VA in 3-6 months. Luckily I had a MH eval just before I got out, (from a civ p-doc) plus I had plenty of records from a BMC from a few years back, so I have established DX…

ptsd Depression And Cognitive Disorders (not Specified)
I have a question as to what exactly do they mean when they say (Not otherwise specified) next to Depression and Cognitive Disorders? I have not been able to find the diagnostic codes that would apply to these. I have read on Hadit other vets C&Ps that have stated Depression, Chronic and either Severe, Moderate, or Mild. I am confused when my C&P stated in AXIS I: 1. PTSD, Chronic, 2. Depression, not otherwise specified, 3. Cognitive Disorder, not otherwise specified. Can someone explain what these mean and where to find the diagnostic code that relates to them? Thanks, RockyA

ptsd Claims Center Screwing Me
Recently i filed a VA claim for benefits for PTSD. Plenty of stressors but, VA states the first time it was denied that 1. They cant find my medical records anywhere. 2. That they cant find the related stressors that im talking about. The thing that really takes the cake is that i wrote a letter to the senator of missouri where im from and he writes me back with a letter that is going to the place in Virginia to help me find my unit records that definitely has the stressors that i need for my claim. I called the VA claims center and asked them if they used the place in Virginia that specializes in getting the stressor information for PTSD claims and they said that they di…

Help In Getting Sc For Scoliosis
I could really use some assistance in getting SC for Scoliosis. Here is my story: I was not detected with Scoliosis until 3 months after discharge, this was at my first C/P exam. I attempted to file a claim for SC but was told by the VA that this is a constitutional or developmental abnormality for which SC can not be granted. My back condition was not detected on entrance or exit exams, nor did I complain of back pain during military service for fear of being washed back or belittled, so I treated myself with over-the-counter medications. I remember bending over on my entrance exam for him to check my spine but do not recall it on the exit. I do have proof from a pre-…

Old Vs New Evidence
Hello Everyone, I wanted to drop a line regarding some SC issues, maybe it will help someone else. I had a spinal fusion of T8-L4 with Harrington rods while on AD in 1992. After being medically discharged, i began my appeals through the VA. Three years ago I had xrays of my spine done at the VA. It revealed extensive osteopenia of the spine. My VA doc told me it was probably due to the Harrington rods, which severely limited my range of motion to my spine. Around the same time I had a nerve conduction study that showed I had distal and sensory neuropathy with radiculopathy in my left leg. Once I had the results of these studies I submitted them as new evidence for an i…

M21-1 Adj. Procedure Manual
I found this in the M21-1, but don't know if I should include this in my husband's claim, since it might have changed. M21-1, Part I April 19, 2002 Change 86 Erratum a. General. If entitlement to SMC under 38 U.S.C. 1114 exists on account of the loss, or loss of use, of both lower extremities, the veteran also meets the requirements for specially adapted housing under 38 U.S.C. 2101. Conversely, entitlement to specially adapted housing because of loss or loss of use of both lower extremities also meets the requirements f…
