  1. I retired in 2010, and was rated in 2012. Once I was rated it took me around 45-60 to get my retro from the VA. As for your first payment from the VA, I would assume that you would get in on the 1st of Oct. I believe thats how it worked for me.

Good luck, you are in your final stages. Congrats.

  2. I opened a disability back in 2010, and in 2012 i was rated 90% and was told that I had to resubmit dependency documents because they were missing in my file, and so I did. In 2013 I was rated 100% P&T, but my dependency claim remained open with a received date of 2012, and not 2010 which was the original claim date. so on July 2014 I opened another dependency claim under the Pilot program in which I was told by the VA that it would be completed within 30 days or so.I live in California so my Regional Office is LA, but today E-Benefits is showing both dependencies claim closed as of today, the one dated 2012, and the dated 2014. But now it is also showing the 2012 as being received today, and is being reviewed by Reginal Office in Washington. Could someone out there help me understand this, and has this ever happen to anyone else? Another thing, there hasnt been any changes on E-Benefits as far as letters or any notices.

    I'm confused!

Thank you guys for taking the time to read this post.

  3. This happen to me. I received 90% in 2012, and then 100% in 2013, and they did play me the difference for 90-100%. I would differently check on it. I see that you retired from the Military, so you should be getting concurrent pay, which is your Military and VA retirement checks, Right? Good luck Gy, and I hope everything works out for you. One thing for sure. The VA will pay you what they owe you, so don't stress too much.

    Semper Fi.

  4. Thanks for the info, Chuck75.

I strongly agree with you on how difficult the VA make things seem sometimes!

In my case, I am 100% P&T, and payment to me as single, because they are still lingering around with my dependency claim is $3061.00.

To my understanding dependency pay for my wife should be about $159.00 when I see it.

So the pay for the veteran alone at 100% is $2,828.24, but there again, I am receiving $3,061.00, with a difference of about $233.00 which should be SMC, but which one? SMC K, L, and so one?

I guess I will try and sit with a VA rep, and see if they can break it down for me once my dependency claim id done.

But, like you said Chuck, I might have a couple of SMC's. I just wish they would have broken down in my Brown Envelope.

    Thanks Chuck.

  5. I was wondering if I might get some guidance from you guys out there?

I was awarded 100% DOD/100% VA P&T last year, but I was just reading another post on the SMC Topic, and it made me wonder.

Where exactly will I find the information about my SMC award on my decision letter?

On my award letter it states that I am 100% P&T, plus SMC which I assume it's for my left eye, but I'm not completely sure because I have other disabilities that fall under SMC qualifications.

Can anyone please tell me where to look in my Brown Packed to find this information, and the $ amount and % that's being paid to me for SMC?

    Thanks in advance.

  6. No Berta. The Military sent me to an outside Neurosurgeon for the shot in order to stabilize my back while I went through a second knee surgery.

Shorty after the injection, I started to have vision problems, got diabetes, and lost 30 plus pounds in three weeks. I was never able to recuperate,

so the Military decided that it would best if I retired. I was found service connected, and currently being pay SMC by the VA.

  7. I need HELP. The VA saids that I had a stroke following a steroid injection to my spine which also caused diabetes type 2, and blindness to my left eye causing a hole in the middle of the retina which causes me a great deal of lost vision.

They told me that there is nothing they can do for me and that I would live like this from now on.

My right eye is also weak since the left eye was injured so I have to wear glasses just to get around the house and also drive.

Does anyone out there know where I might go to see if I can get my eyes fixed?

I used to be seen by the VA every six months, but when I was rated 100% they dropped the Ball and don't even call me anymore.

I also have diabetes type 2 which changed my life completely, but under control with oral medications.

I am currently seeing a doctor at Pacific eye institute every six months, but he never gives me any or options on what or whom to see.

Seems to me that all he wants is the insurance money.

I would really appreciate any feedback.

    thanks.

  8. Congrats on your win. It does make a whole lot of difference being P&T, and it's great. Sad part of it all, is the pain we have to endure for the rest of our lives. I would be happy to trade my P&T for a painless body, especially a good left eye which is blind, and better eye sight for the right eye.

But, since that miracle won't happen, I guess I might as well make the best of it, and enjoy the benefits.

    Good luck, and God Bless.
