  1. My Husband, Brother, Nephew, Sister-in-law and I would be one of the millions to go to Washington, We should get Bus Tours for all Vets who would go anyone have any ideas on this?
  2. If you believe this current administration cares about the Veterans, they are no better than the administration who used the Army against the Bonus Marchers.
  3. This happen in 1985, My Nephew was on ship when he was raped by two men. He reported it and it was written down. They kept him on ship with these two guys nothing was done to them and my Nephew had started drinking and haveing a lot of problems. It is to long of a story to write down I have his files and its to much. All of this finally came out by his doctor in the last year. Question is: Can we get a lawyer and go after the Military for all of his medical problems and for what had happen to him aboard ship. They kept these three together till he was discharged. Or is this to long ago to go after them. Would there be a statue of limation on this? The VA finally gave him 70% for PTSD but that is not enough. HE is 44 yeas old has not been able to hold down a job, held all of this in till last year. Again to many medical problems to go through some of them are being deferred at this time. But we would like to go after the Navy for his rape. Can We? Thanks JohnM's Wife Dianne
  4. A lump sum payment is a scam, once you recieve a lump sum payment you have forefit any future rights you may have had for illness or injurys that show up at a later date. A monthly check is better than a lump sum payment because you have assured income for a life time for you may live to be 100 years old. Your lump sum payment would not cover your live. I am 57 and have been on SSD for 3 years now, I at least know that I will have a monthly check every month to pay my bills and to eat. A lump sum payment would disappear in less than a year and then What. You are the Streets. No this is not Acceptable.
  5. Pete: I hope you can get it done. I had it done May 2005 ( BYPass) and have lost 150. My HMO would not pay for it but medicare did. Out of pocket it cost me $1300. My life has changed, My health overall is better. And once again I feel Sexy and Happy. I love the comments I recieve, Although I would like to lose 10 more everyone tells me I shouldn't because I look good now. If you have it done take a picture of yourself the morning of surgery and then every 3 months after for a year and you will be amased to see yourself and happy to show those pictures off. Join the support group if you have one in your area. don't be afraid of trying different foods, just be aware of what makes you sick and stay away from them. For me I can not eat anything cooked on a grill or anything too spicy. certain barbacue sauces have to much sugar in them so watch out for that. Otherwise today, I can eat anything else. Just be aware of what your stomache is telling you, I go out to eat and thinking I am starved start to eat and after a few bites of food my stomache will let me know that I am full. I know look at what people put on their plates and think " I use to eat that much" Sometimes I feel jeaulos but would not change anything. Its mind over matter. Good Luck to You JohnM's Wife Dianne
  6. For everyone who agree's to this statement Please write these words to your repersenitives and congressman. If you go into military.com mail system you can write your statement down and your name address and zip and it will send a letter to each of your repersenitives and congress. so all you need to do is write it once. Also add to the statement to Vote No to Dole-Shalala's Plan (Once againg should be Once again) JohnM's Wife Dianne
  7. Once againg our President has found a way to short change our Vets. The plan to stop va comp at 65 fails to consider the fact that some vets getting va comp may have a lower income as a result of the disability. As a result their SSA maybe lower than average. The plan stopping va comp at 65 is just away to use a back door to punish those who have defended our county. JohnM and Wife Dianne
  8. Ricky and Berta: Thank you for your answers to this question, when we filed for all of my brothers illness's we asked them to reconsider the DMII and Hypertension. Not realizing about the NOD. I had called Milwaukee and they never said anything about filing NOD just that we should ask them to reconsider it. I just faxed this post over to my sister-in-law. For some reason she can not get on to habit, so she can no longer read the post. If you can tell us how she can fix this problem, it would be nice. I am talking about Emmak. Thanks JohnM's Wife Dianne
  9. My Nephew got his letter last week for PTSD 70% sexual assault we won that but it should be high thats what his Rep said, so she put in another claim for that. but he has 6 defferent deferred conditions remaining and several SC denied which we are appealing. First what does defferred mean? One of them is IU, Hepitatis B & C, Osteopenia, and the other three are for allergies sinus and a higher rating for his chronic uticaria which he is currently 10%.The medical records now and then prove SC. Can anyone tell us if defferred means we have to fight for this? HE is 40 some years old does not work, lives on his 10%,VA Doctor states he is unable to work due to his medical problems and medicine which causes more medical conditions. AT this time he has 3 other medical problems which we are taking to the traveling board because they have denied them, SC connection and on record. This young man came home 20 some years ago from service a different person than when he went in. No one would believe him and he did not get any help until the last 4 years. Can anyone one give us some info. this is a pretty long case, I have given some examples here but for me to continue it would be to long, maybe I could write down things in a different post later right now I am looking for answers about defferred Thanks JohnM's Wife Dianne
  10. It all depends on fast they work on it. My Nephews was at the rating board since March and just got his letter a week ago. My Brother was was told by his VA Rep that they gave him 100% the 1st of June and he is still waiting for his letter and check. they keep saying its waiting for autherization, found out it was sitting on an empty desk. We are hoping now that he should get both with in one week. Oh His was at the rating board since March also. All I can say is sit and wait, I know it cause more stress waiting, They do not seem to care about that. JohnM's Wife Dianne
  11. O.K. The first of June my brother was called by his VA REP in Milwaukee, that they have gave him 100% P&T it is not the middle of Aug and still has not recieved his Reto, Everytime we call they say that it needs Autherization. How long does this usually take for Autherization? Its been two Months now. Do we need to call someone else besides the 800# and get Milwaukee? Thanks JohnM's Wife Dianne
  12. Everyone talks about a clothing allowance is this for everyone automatically or do you need to apply for this? Thanks JohnM's Wife Dianne
  13. I am not an expert on all of this as others are but John just recieved his letter for ED and he got a o% with $89 a month compensation,DMII depending on how bad he his. If he is taking Medication and weight control would propably be 20% if insulin he could get a higher %. Let me say if he has any other problems,Other than DMII and PTSD file them all at once. Do not file one at a time. It is more trouble and agravation for you if you file one at a time. Get all Doctor reports together, Including a letter from his physician with all his medical problems and How he believes this would be related to DMII PTSD or Agent Orange. The VA Rep that my brother had told him just to file PTSD then he had to appeal, Then he Had a hearing, Just all for one thing, It has been over 15 Months and we finally are waiting for his 100% before we can file for anything else and my brother has a lot of other medical problems related to Agent Orange and Military itself. We have three different doctors letters and I finally typed all of his claims down In one claim. We are now waiting for the Big Evelope or Letter which they say within the week. Now once he gets that then we can file for everything else and then it starts all over again. In the mean time I am hoping that he doesn't have anything happen to him before his claim is all down. His health is not good and I am afraid we may lose him sooner than later, He is only 65 and I am not ready to lose him at this time. His Case is very complicated and as your cousin we did not know of compensation till last year. As I said they did finally give him 100% for PTSD but it took over 15 Months and a lot of anxity just for one thing. If it is all claimed at once as we did with my husband it may take less time as my husband's only took 7 Months for 100% and then we filed For ED and that took 5 months. Make sure you keep all copies you hand in including doctor reports and letters. Good Luck to You JohnM's Wife Dianne
  14. His medical problems is very lenghtly so it is hard to write it all down for everyone but to answer some of your questions. When he enlisted he wrote down that he had chronic sinus problems. Also let me say that he enlisted in the navy. while in service he injured his back, several times he was either on light duty or in the hospital. While on the ship he was a boiler tech. he broke out with uticaria. At one point he was so bad they had to med flight him to another ship and they did not no if he was going to live or die. after a time they sent him back to the ship doing the same thing. He continued to break out with the unticaria and he was then called elephant man by the other men. He was then sexually assaulted by two men he reported it and it is all written down it is also written down what his buddy told the officer. this is all doucmented. after the sexual assault he started drinking and drinking heavly. They never took these two men off ship and he had to work with these two men. He was scared for his life. because of his drinking the officer said he was an acholic and was punishing him for it. he was also involved in a car accident while drinking which he was not driving. they never looked into why he was drinking . this was a 19 year old boy who came from a state and town where none of this occured or was talked about. Again he had several other medical problems. when he came home the VA would only treat him for his uticaria and nothing else. ( That has now changed) he tried to work but could never hold down a job long enough to get insurance. So he never was seen by a doctor for his back problems. While on two jobs his back started to bother hime and they sent him to the doctor. VA is saying that because he never seen a doctor except for when work sent him and that a discharge he never complained about his back they are saying that he is not service related. Again he was sent home on emergency leave just before his discharge, so they never gave him a physical, all they gave him was the questionery sheet to fill out and because he did not want to go back he answered no to all the questions. He was afraid he would be charged or punished and he had enough of that. By the way his service officer had told him not to say any thing about the sexuall assault or he could be killed. It took many years for his phyc doctor to get this out in the open. He his now 40 some years old and not working at this time he is only getting $115 from VA and that is what he lives on. Now VA pays for his appartment but he pays for Electriciy and heat and phone. That leaves him with nothing. His Mother buys him food and what ever else he needs. Now with all the medicine he is on he has more medical problems and his phy doctor told me yesterday that No he can not work and that he is P&T. At this time we are fighting VA for his back and secondary hip problems they keep dening him for this. I am sorry for this being so long, there is more to add but I think that you can get the jest of this problem. Oh and by the way there are medical records that are not recived such as the one that he was med flighted off the ship. But again they are not talking about medical records just his personnel file and in just reading that and with all the punishment that the service officer gave him I believe that they are dening him every thing because of that. Although they did concede that he did hurt his back while in service. Thanks Again JohnM's wife Dianne
  15. My Nephew just recieved a letter from DVA dening depression, hip condition and back condition. Next step is Washington they say. Ok when it goes to Washington do you believe that we should go to support his claim. also they have accepte the claim for PTSD due to sexual trauma in service, so would or could we claim depression due to that? In the DVA letter I have yellowed some sentence's out one of them state something that they say was mentioned during his appeal which was never mentioned, I was there with him and that question was never asked. Another talkes about Ofiicial Military personnel files but nothing about medical files. and then they state that the fact remains that he denied chronic low back pain at the time of discharge. He did not have a physical at time of discharge, he just answered a question sheet and becuase he was home on an emergency leave and did not want to go back he answered all the questions NO, if they would look at his medical file they could see that all of those questions where wrong. He had no help and no physical, what does any one think about continuing this? Thanks for your replies in advance JohnM's Wife Dianne
  16. Thanks for all your replys, I printed it out and let John read it, He said You can tell that they are all over worked by just looking at all the people getting lab work done. So We will give him one more chance and if he acts the same way we will take all of your advise and submit a complaint. Thanks JohnM's Wife Dianne
  17. John seen his VA Doctor for the first time the other day, I was just PSSSed on how he repersented himself. first he called us in 20 minutes late, We walked in and he said what can I do for you today. We looked at him and said you guys where the one's who set up the appointment. He never looked at John's records, He did not want to take time in discussing John's problem. I had two pages of problems listed down to discuss with him and he said Mrs.xxxx I only have 30 minutes. I said look you are going to be his primary doctor from now on I would think you would want to know what's going on with him. I tried to discuss about two Insurance disability papers that needed to be filled out every 6 months and he didn't want to discuss that and said for what. He did not even know John was 100% SC P&T and on SSD. and didn't even care. Again I stressed to him that he is John's primary Doctor, I was so psssed I just about walked out. I wanted to talk to him on what one of the C&P Doctors wrote down about cardiovascular componet with blood pressure drop and he said I don't know, you have to ask him. when we left, I left the file that I had put together and two days later got a call that he was reading the file and is scheduling John a stress test. Is this what we have to go through every time he see's a doctor? So far all of the C&P Doctors John has seen where very nice , nothing like this one. Is this what I am going to have to go through if John gets very sick? have any of you experienced this and what did you do about it? To my idea he was very rude and did not care, we did not even get to ask him about John getting a Glouclose kit for his diabetes. Because so far he has been using mine. JohnM's Wife Dianne
  18. John Quit 27 Years ago and Brother Quit 35 years ago JohnM's Wife Dianne
  19. So if you got on the list for AO lawsuit and you started smoking while in the service will they reject you? They only want none smokers if you have lung cancer. But if you started smoking while in the service and then developed lung cance years later how can they say that you can not get on the list JohnM's Wife Dianne
  20. Berta; we just bought a new car with satilite radio, would you please give the radio call numbers so we can try and program it in Thanks JohnM's Wife Dianne
  21. Thanks Vike17 that's what they said determination team did not say post but that is what I was thinking, Wish they would hurry so we can file the other claims We need to get those on record. in case something happens to him, We have 3 Doctors statements in support of his claims Stating most likely or not. This 100% is just on PTSD no other medical conditions as of yet. So thanks for your reply JohnM's Wife Dianne
  22. The VA Rep from Milwaukee called the two weeks ago and said my brother's appeal was awarded 100% with P&T. We have other medical claims to file but he wants to wait for the letter and the big envelope. When we call they tell us its in the discision board,. Can anyone tell me what the discision board is and about how long wil we have to wait. I know its about 15-16 months reto pay could that be the reason that it is taking so long? JohnM's Wife Dianne
  23. Berta: Please do not stop replying, your answers are very important to many, I agree with Chuck75, I am not the good myself but can manage to find things. People especially new ones sometimes do not realize that their answer was posted before. I have not been able to listen to your radio station so your knowledge on here is important and helpful to many of us. John is 100% but I still come on and read and ask question. PLEASE CONTINUE: If you posted the answer before just simple state that and they should scroll for the answers and read the old post. Thank You JohnM's Wife Dianne Without your help and others John may not have gotten the 100%
  24. Thank You Vike17 That makes sense to me, I think that I will wait till we hear about the rating.
  25. Yes are VA Rep sent it in with a claim for ED, The claim for ED is at the rating board since June 26th but yet nothing on the NOD's I think maybe I should call the Rep find out what's going on, I thought that we should have heard something on it by now.
