  1. I was already at 30%, I was going to appeal the November 06 decision and the DRO happened after I called my Congressman. I got a letter on 1 Aug 08, so yes trying to be patient. No one wanted to believe it would happen, still in shock.
  2. My Service Officer has been out of office, my VA rep is always out of office as well. Both didn't think I had a good claim in 2006 and I won, and though an appeal would take over 5 years, so now that I am granted 20 years of retro, I am sure they don't want to hear I told you so. Thanks for all the input, I'll keep waiting. I do have direct deposit setup since 2007.
  3. Any ideal how long this process uses takes? Awards letter came Aug 1, 2008, 20 years retro. trying to figure out my next steps. The Post-Determination Team is where the rating decision is promulgated. In other words, it is where the decision gets entered into the system and the rating decision is prepared and sent out to the veteran. If the veteran has a Power of Attorney (POA), they give a heads up to them as to what the decision was. If a claim has been granted and the retro involves over $25,000.00, it is sent to the VSCM (Veterans Service Center Manager) or their assistant for a third signature.
  4. Is the 5 months for SSA or all claims, I was granted 20 years retro on my VA claim, haven't gotten the money yet. Hopefully it won't take 5 months, I know it requires 3 signatures over $25,000.00. Please reply
  5. I don't know how to appeal it, keratoconus must wear contact lens, rating schedule is pretty difficult to interupt, although I can only wear contacts for a couple hours in non rated eye, it is best visual acuity with contacts, so in this case I would be satisfied with the 30%.
  6. I had an attorney give me advice, but I ended up filing my appeal myself.
  7. It wasn't agent organe, vision problems "eye diease"
  8. My rep sounded confused, I called him yesterday about my orginal claim and getting a copy of my c-file and he said he never saw my form 9, I told him I sent it 2 mos. ago. I had to send it in again and he said I should hear something in 6 mos to a year. So when I called today he actaully said I knew yesterday, I thought you wanted to appeal it. I am happy with the 30% and all the dependents got added as well, my condition only qualifies for that much so it's perfect, now just waiting the money, the rep said anything over $25K has to get 3 signatures first, so we shall see. ;) , Thanks for all the help and support from Hadit.com
  9. I don't understand how but I got an awards letter today. 30% retro to 1988. GOD IS TO BE PRAISED !!!! ;) :( :P I don't know if my Rep helped me or I did it myself. They told me I would even get the orginal claim granted.
  10. I can't get any official ruling on my case in 1988 was denied and I did not recieve a rating decision, because I din't report to the exam, someone said it probably considered abandoned. I didn't go because my active duty doctor told me to go to a civilian doctor when I got out, so I did. The job that I went into had excellent benefits, 20 years later I'm still employed.
  11. I am not unsure what the outcome was on the 1988, when I filed the claim in 2007, they asked if I was trying to reopen a claim, I didn't know I had one. I got out of service in 1988 and as I stated I was just trying to get better. I din't know about compensation until 2007 when I filed for the same medical condition and was given 30%.
  12. I filed a claim in 2007 and was granted 30%. I had forgotten that I filed the same claim in 1988 at that time I was trying to get better, so I instructed back then to see a civilian doctor since I was getting out of service, I have been treated by a civilian doctor ever since 1988. Any chances at getting retroactive pay ? My condition is well documented in my military records.
