  1. Finally , i was able to provide some useful advice here ( call and ask your percentage ). I did that when i was told my decision was final , The guy said ah good try you almost got me. So i told him to fax me and he did.

Not the result i wanted but atleast i didn't have to wait. They only sent the cover page and decision , not the reasons or evidence section by fax. He said they have to wait five days after it's been finalized before they give out info over phone.Just my experience .

  2. I think with kids it's always a good idea to have them locked and put away correctly. My 2 boys are 12 and 13 and have gone thru hunter ed and appreciate the danger of any firearm (loaded/unloaded) . I figure if there giving them away for free i'll take one. I keep mine in a safe . I won't be sleeping with one under my pillow until all my kids are moved out.

Till then i sleep with my Easton bat .

I thought i would just pass it along to anybody who might have a need.

  3. The VA has a gun lock program in place. Atleast it's new to me. My psych Dr filled out a short form took me to the desk and got me one FREE . I didn't sign anything or have to say anything.

If you have kids, or need extra time when you get stressed out  .This could be a lifesaver for you or someone else.

  4. I don't mean to hijack this thread so if it needs to be moved , moderators feel free. I'm trying to figure out this Agoraphobia thing. On my C&P exam

Dr states Axis I PTSD CHRONIC , SEVERE , MAJOR DEPRESSIVE DISORDER , RECURRENT SEVERE WITHOUT PSYCHOTIC FEATURES , PANIC DISORDER WITH AGORAPHOBIA, ALCOHOL ABUSE DISORDER.

Would this be the foundation for an SMC House bound claim.

    Thanks for your help

  5. Mpara,

I too am a gulf war vet . Yes there is something going on . When your made to take pills and shots that have not even been tested on animals how can you know the long term effects.

When you come home after a 1 yr deployment, tired all the time , rashes over your arms and feet. Headaches that come and go. Anger issues i didn't have before .

My wife and i have lost three babies , that the pediatrician experts could not even figure out what happened. Makes you wonder . Makes me angry and sad just thinking about it.

And let's not forget the fact that all of my records pertaining to my service have been lost . ( coincidence ) ?

  6. Dies,

I think alot of the time it depends on the C&P doc signing off and saying it is okay to release. I don't think they have a time frame either ( or atleast held to one ) .I know i can get all of my other VA records,

right when i walk in except for mental heatlh, which needs to be signed off by the doc before release. I know your anxious about getting it to see what the 2 star had to say .

  7. I didn't mean to suggest that there are not legitimate PTSD veterans out there. What I meant to indicate is that there are many that are not and those are the ones that clog the system and make it more difficult for those with legitimate claims to receive just and fair compensation without a fight with the VA. If you don't believe that there are many "trumped up" claims, then you are not living in the real world. I have a lot of Vietnam Vet friends and we talk among ourselves a lot. We know who those of us are that experienced a lot of trauma in Nam and we know who the guys are that came home after the war and put the war behind them and moved on with their lives, who the ones are that have legitimate problems and who the few are that have the attitude that they are owed a living because they served one tour in Nam. PTSD is obvioulsy the most abused because while you can't fake a bullet or schrapnel wound, you can fake PTSD and there are some that try in hopes that they will receive a pension check from the VA. This is not pretty, but it is reality!

Did know it came down to how long one was in country to get PTSD ? I'm sure there are many who have PTSD from there first day in.

  8. I have Sent a request to Camp Pendleton and The Marine Corps Archive myself .All i got back was a cd with my DD214 a few of my awards and a couple of leave and earnings statements on it.

The Va sent off for my records also according to my award letter in Aug 09, from Camp Pendleton and another place ( can't remember know ) and i'm not at home to check. They said they were unavailable.

  9. Kelly, I was thinking that would be a good time for an enlisted man to give it to the zero ( officer ) too. Ha Ha.

Dies, welcome to the board. You'll like it here, good people. I would really try to get your hands on that C&P . Your either gonna like the results or it's gonna piss you off.

Hopefully , a fellow Marine helped you out. But as you are well aware the zeros usually cover there own arse. Goodluck friend.

  10. I'm asking this question because i want to do the right thing . I hear alot about GWS vets being denied benefits for the GW Syndrome and it's related presumtives, ( IBS,GERD, CFS ,Fibromyalgia Etc, etc ).

I have many of the symptons ,they say are related to Gws. My question is this ( ethical ) What are peoples thoughts about claiming these same symptoms as secondary to an already service connected condition.

Instead of a stand alone claim for GWS. Part of my problem is , all of my service / medical records are no where to be found in the system. Whereas i have documentation for the last year from the Va for some of these conditons that can be related to medications .

  11. Seems like intimidation or he's real proud of those stars.

My opinion that's not right for him to wear them at a c&p exam, as the examiner .Did i read that right.

Did they do that so you would man up and not tell about all of your difficulties. We jarheads have a problem telling about our problems ,especially to somebody that is a higher/ ranking authority.

We don't want to be looked at as weak . That was a real sh!t move on there part.

  12. What form is used to file an ED claim due to meds .

Have been on the Psych meds for a yr, killed my sex drive The VA prescribed there saluting medication (7)months ago.

Is there a time frame for , having to be on the med like 6 months , so it can be considered chronic.

    Thanks for the replies .
