  1. Don,t if this has been posted here or not, but I think it needss to be spread around. For those that need records to prove "boots on the ground" or possibly about any operations you were involved in. This website has actual declassified unit reports from Viet Nam and they have it broken down by service Marines, Army, Navy, and Air Force. The site is www.recordsofwar.com Hope this helps somebody out there get the needed benefits they deserve.

Found some excellent info regarding operations I was involved in. Thanks for the link Boomer2

  2. I've just found out I've been awarded the same new 10% disability for each of my legs. It also states the bilateral factor is "1.9", which I assume to mean an actual award of 19%, combined, which would round up to 20%. Am I correct, and if not what is the total??? Also, when considering the 100% + 60%, required for SMC, do they use VA math, or normal math, when combining to meet the 60% required???

    Thank you!!

    pr

I hope you don't mind my chiming in on your question.

I'm not very good with the A math but I've gotten pretty good at using the VBA combined ratings table.I use the tables to cross check a calculator I frequently use.

    The calculator I use says: 10 + 10 = 19 + bilateral factor of 1.9 (10%) = 20.9%. You'd be rated at 20%

The VBA 38CFR Combined ratings table states 10 combined with 10 is 19 so I'm assuming the calculator is correct.

I'll leave the question about 100% + 60% to those in the know!

  3. Hello everyone. I'm Veldrina, & I work for the VA benefits office in NY. I came across HadIt.com from another website (can't remember which) and saw some of the questions and problems you all have, and thought Maybe I could help in whatever way I can. I realize there isn't a lot of love for VA, so I'm hoping you don't shoot the messenger! Please understand I'm doing this of my own volition, not mandated or sanctioned through VA. What I can do: shed light on the why's & wherefor's of SOME procedures, policies, backlogs, rating evaluations, how we develop claims, direct you to whom to ask for certain types of claims or what wording to use in your claims, actual processing times, etc. What I can't do: look up everyone's claims for updates, tell you about loans, voc. rehab, appeals, education, pension benefits or insurance (as they aren't handled in our office or I don't have access to it). I will chime in whenever I can on the forums to your questions. I hope to be of service, and thank you for your service to the US.

    Veldrina

If you ever feel like we are 'shooting the messenger' please don't give up. There may be times when your words just don't seem appreciated, but I ask you to keep in mind that there are many Hadit veterans and family members lurking here. Your words may help those that never post and may make a huge difference for a veteran in need.

Personally, I became frustrated with the mixed messages I was getting from my RO. I came to Hadit to learn how to properly handle my claims. My VSO is a nice person but I've gotten little guidance on how to follow thru with VA's requests, etc. and I find that fact so frustrating. Hadit has help me sort thru things and address my needs properly.

I will be following your posts for advice/insight that may be helpful to my claims.

    Welcome to the Hadit community!

  4. Since you've gotten some great advice already I'll just add my congratulations on winning your IHD claim.

It's good to read that veterans are getting their long awaited benefits.

  5. ADD these up:

    1. Veterans copayments went up.

    2. No COLA for Veterans 2 years in a row.

    3. VA employees rake in millions in bonuses: http://www.vawatchdogtoday.org/

Who is this a good deal for? Not for Veterans!

    Hey Broncovet,

I don't know much about the co-payment situation but I understand your frustration with the lack of COLA's. As explained, the VA has no control over them so we can be angry all we want but it won't do us any good. The lack of COLA's has hurt many people, not just veterans. I'm very concerned about my 80+ yr. old in-laws who receive very small checks each month and simply can't afford the increases in medical costs and the cost of living. We help them all we can but they live far from us and we don't have much to give. My heart goes out to them as they work to save every penny they can just to survive.

Bonuses can go either way. I know there are abuses, by the companies using them and the employees earning them. I worked 23 years for a company that kept their hourly wages much lower than the norm and provided bonuses for those that earned them. It was their way of controlling each employee's income. They could discontinue the bonuses whenever they wanted to and did so 3 times (for 1-3 years duration) during my employment. When they were discontinued, it left those employees that worked hard for their company, with poor hourly wages to live on. The bonuses I received were never huge but I worked hard to earn each and every one I ever received. All in all, I think most employees are honest hard working people that deserve the bonuses they receive. I really don't have a problem with VA employees receiving bonuses as long as they were honestly earned.

  8. Received the unofficial word yesterday that my husband is now 100%, not yet sure if it's TDIU or P&T .... filed for IU but his conditions will only get worse and we had

a statement from his doctor stating such. He hasn't been able to work due to sc conditions for the past 5 years ...... not sure yet if they are going back the 5 years

for effective date (they should) or ... what. We'll probably hear details next week.

Either way, it's a HUGE relief ... we can move forward from here. There is enough on our plate for now, it's still full but the cracks are mended.

Thank you for all of the support and hand-holding, life rings, ladders ..... Thank you Hadit.

Congratulations VetsLady! It's always great to receive news like this during the holidays. Hopefully it will be P&T.

  9. Could sure use more feedback on this How To Start A New Topic demonstration movie, no sound and only a couple of minutes long it shows you how to:

    Start A New Topic

    Edit A Post

    Attach A File

Please view it and give me your feedback on whether you think this movie and others like it would be helpful to you.

    Thanks

    Tbird

I think this is a great idea!

As far as input goes....I'm not familiar with the software so please forgive me if none of the following are possible.....here's my thoughts:

    1. Alert members that the movie could take some time to load at the link site.

    2. Enlarge the image so it would be easier to see/read.

    3. Last, if possible, slow it down a bit to give a newbie time to absorb the info.

Thank you for even considering doing this...You are the BEST!
