  1. Thanks rentalguy. I was pretty sure that they had everything needed to approve this. He lives with my mother who has to do everything for him as he can't do it for himself. I guess i'll have my mother mail me the denial letter so that i can read it myself and work from there. Jessie
  2. Hello everyone; Several months ago i filed a claim for my brother [ or helped him claim] for A%A. Today he got a denial letter. I haven't read the letter, My Mother read it to me over the phone and i couldn't believe some of the things they used to deny him. Things that had to come out of his medical records from 2 years ago or longer when he didn't have a diagnosis of Cancer yet. What can i do, He is in stage 4 Liver Cancer and don't think he will make it long enough to appeal. Anything i can do short of a NOD ? Thanks, Jessie
  3. Thanks BigDog: I am trying to apply for the Life Insurance for my son who cannot get life insurance anywhere else do to his haveing 2 differents kinds of rare cancer. He is rated now at 50% disabled 40% for the cancer and 10% for his back and is only 37. This insurance stuff is all too confusing!! Thanks: Jessie

  5. Thanks CG: I did see Berta's note. I still do plan to file claims for my son's associated Conditions. I did want to get this one finished before i submitted to others as this one was of the most important. Jessie OH P.S. Baby didn't make it last night, The Labor stopped and she was sent home about 4AM. If she doesn't have the Baby in the next couple days then Monday a C-Section is planned. Hope Not!! But then what every is best for the baby!!

  9. Thanks Pete53: Yes at this point he still tries to work although the chronic fatigue created by this condition keeps him physically drained and now is looking at a second surgery on his service connected back condition. So it really no telling what the fulture hold for him. Guess we will cross each bridge as it comes for now. Thanks, Again Jessie
  10. Thanks Betty: And good luck on your claim!! I'm pulling for you. Jessie
  11. Thanks Berta: Yes, I think i will enjoy this victory for a few days and then consider if i want to continue writing the NOD on this since we have a NOD in on the decision on his back condition. We'll see. Thanks, Again Jessie
  12. Just thought i'd let you at hadit know that my son's rating increase on reconsideration was approved from 0% to 40% for his blood cancer. Thanks to all at hadit for your guidence!! Without you we wouldn't have gotten this far. Thanks Again: Jessie
  13. Just wanted to let everyone know that i got the call from my son's service officer this morning. They approved the rating increase in my son's claim for his blood cancer from 0% to 40%.But i'm disappointed that they only approved it back to May 2007 when they received the Letter of Reconsideration. I'm not happy with it but my son seem to be happy with it. Maybe it will take a couple days for it to sink it. However they did include payment for his son. Thanks to everyone here on Hadit without you we couldn't have done it this far. You Guys and Gals are truly wonderful. Jessie
  14. Hello All: My brother has been taking large doses of Chemotherapy now for a few months for stage 4 Liver Cancer. They told us that his Red Blood Cells have been depleated by the Chemo and if we don't get them back up he will die. But they didn't offer any drugs to help get them to regenerate, I know that there is a drug called Procrit that is given for Chemo induced Anemia but is really expensive. [ The VA is his only source of treatment.] I don't know if the VA gives this drug or any other for the Anemia. I need to know a list that the Va uses so that on Monday when he has his next treatment i can ask why they aren't treating it with this. Thank You Jessie
  15. tssnave: I will post the news just as soon as i learn of it. Thanks for the well wishes!! Jessie
  16. Betty Thanks: I hope they did the right thing!! I'l post as soon as i know. Jessie
  17. Hi Pete53: The Rating for this condition requiring phlebotomies is 40% They already have the childs birth Certificate in the file along with the marriage and devorce record. I'm hoping for the 40% which is what it should be rated at. I'll let you know when we hear!! Jessie
  18. rdawg: He is divorced and has custody of his young son. Jessie
  19. Hello Everyone: This morning as i am working on the NOD for my son's Claim for a reconsideration in the rating decision for his Blood Cancer. As most of you know that by reading my many post that he was given a rating of % back in March 2007 but should have gotten a 40% rating because he is receiving monthly phlebotomies. Anyway the VA called for a couple answers because " We are going to sign off on this claim and need a couple questioned answered" They wanted to know how many dependants he had.[ Gee could have been answered if they read all the file] he has one son. Am i to assume that they are going to approve the rate increase to the 40% rate since they ask how many dependants?? I hope i'm not reading too much into this but sincerely pray that i can write a success story soon: Jessie
  20. Thanks Berta: I appreciate all the usefull advice given, I am so glad for all you guys and gals here at hadit. Jessie
  21. Thanks Rentalguy: That helps a lot since i'm on a time line now!! Jessie
  22. Hello everyone! I need help with this. In March 2007 my son received Service Connection for his Blood Cancer. But was only given a rating of 0%. WE sent in April 2007 a letter of request for reconsideration because at the time there was evidence in his file that shows that he receives monthly phlebotomies. According to the rating schedule receiving phlebotomies he should have recevied a 40% rating. Now his claim for reconsideration is still unsolved and the year will be up soon. In October 2007 they were still trying to decide if they needed to call him in for another C&P exam to determine if he does indeed have this Blood Cancer. So in October 2007 i faxed all the results of his Blood Volume Studies that he had done in June 2007 with the diagnosis confirmed and also sent the last six months of his phlebotomy records. On November 7th his claim went to the rating board where it set until Early in Jan 2008. I called to check on the status and was told the Claim file had been lost!!! I then called and talked to his Service Officer who had been out of the Office due to his own health and he told me that all the records i faxed to the VA in Oct 2007 had been lost and he ask me to fax them to him. I did and he took them back to the rating coach and watched him put them in the file. On the 18th of this month he tells me someone at the rating board had the file and was working on it. My question is since we are nearing the 1 year mark on this claim i think i had better start writing the letter of disagreement since it looks like we may not have a decision coming anytime soon. Can i use the same letter i wrote for the reconsiseration as it spelled out pretty clearly the evidence they failed to consider in the first decision. Thanks Jessie
