  1. OIF 03 I think if you post this under <VA Claims and Research> you might get more looker's. Sorry i can't help you but the elders will chime in. Jessie
  2. Chuck75: I'm sure someone else will come along later, But no i was told that there is no Nexus form. I wrote up a letter for my son's Doctor with what i was looking for to connect my son's Blood Cancer to the Jet Fuel Exposure. The day of my son's appointment i had forgotten to take the letter, But i did know some of the questions i needed answered. When he answered them and with a third party witness in the room he couldn't back down and say he didn't say that. I sent the Dr. The letter asking for him to write the nexus and a list of what the VA needed and how it should be stated. I did have to send this to him twice and remind him that he had already stated in his own words what his opinion was as to the cause of my son's Cancer. Jessie
  3. Berta: Thanks!! I hope Chris will take notice!! Jessie
  4. Chris: Send me a personal message and your e-mail address. I don't have any time right now but maybe after the New Year i will see if i can be of any help. Jessie
  5. 1968 Nam Vet So sorry about your Uncle and all the bad information you were given. I hope this won't be a repeat!! jessie
  6. Hello Pete: My brother had his C&P for A&A today. I think it went really well. Had a very nice and caring Dr to do the exam. She ask a lot of questions and told me to join in anytime, and she did a long physical exam. And even noted he was very weak. Didn't help that he had had 10 hours of Chemo the day before, He walked in but i had to take him out in a wheel chair. She sent me out for the wheel chair. She said if the issue was for her to decide she would give it to him. I hope they make a decision soon. I would like to see him with the extra before he dies. Jessie
  7. Chris: I am so sorry to hear of your health problems. But i'm not sure how to help you. And i would like to help!! Frist has any Dr linked your condition to the Jet Fuel?? Have you told them of the jet Fuel exposure?? Have you researched the jet fuel chemicals?? Benzene, Tolulene are 2 that i can think of at the moment. Did the jet fuel get into the water supply? used for cooking, Bathing and drinking?? How are your blood test?? My son is serviced connected for his blood cancer. He was an avitation mechanic in the Navy and refueled helicopters while they hovered overhead he was breathing in the fumes and exhaust of the jet fuel. He suffered for years with unexplained illiness including Muscel pain and weakness, Fatigue, flu like symptoms, Lots of mental confusion, disorientation, Memory loss, panic and anxiety attacks. Mood swings . He was only in his 20's at the time. He was discharged in 1992 from the Navy but wasn't diagnosed with the Blood Cancer until 2002 although he had a blood test while in the Navy that showed he had some abnormal level while in the Navy and again it showed up in his discharge exam. Still yet nobody mentioned this to him to seek treatment or at least follow up with a Doctor after discharge. When i found out through researching the jet fuel that i had to look further into the componets. After i gathered all my information i took it to my son's Dr. And he agreed this was the cause. A lot of Lawyers these days are jumping on the Benzene wagon. But you have to have a diease diagnosed that is caused by it. Keep researching!!! Gather all your materials, Exp those reports of the jet fuel accident and the clean up. Good luck!! I hope you find the diagnosis and get the proper treatment. Jessie
  8. Thanks William: As i told Wings i'm trying not to read too much hope into this for a decision before Christmas. It was a reconsideration request on my son's claim decision he received in March 2007 which serviced connected his Blood Cancer but they gave him a rate of 0% which should have been rated at 40% since he has to undergo Phlebotomies now at every 3 weeks. We started this claim back in Feb. 2006. Jessie
  9. Thanks Wings!! I was trying not to read too much hope into this. We were hoping for a decision before Christmas and maybe a check in the New Year. Jessie
  10. Can anybody tell me what it means when they say your claim is with a supervior at the rating board?? Thanks
  11. Wow you were lucky!! Good Luck!! Jessie
  12. Hello again everyone and thanks for your commits. I actually got to talk to my son's service officer by phone this morning at the regional office who has been out a few months getting treatment of his own Cancer but is back part time now. He looked into my son's claim and assured me it is still at the rating board with a rater. The service had to leave for awhile to go have a c-scan but said when he got back he would go and see if he couldn't get the claim moved forward. Jessie
  13. Thanks William!! We will try again tomorrow. I pray for a very good answer. Thanks again: Jessie
  14. Hello Folks. 2 weeks ago in an Iris reply i was told that the claim for reconsideration in the rate given for my son's Blood Cancer had been at the rating board since November 7th and it could take up to 30- 45 days to reach a decision!! They also said to call them in 2 weeks and hopefully they would have a better answer for us. My son called the 800 number this morning and was told that his Claim hadn't had any action on it for 2 months. What gives?? Which do we believe?? They have had this claim in for 8 months now. Thanks, Jessie
  15. Hello All: My brother has an upcoming C&P next week for A&A. How do i prepare him for this exam. Since i will be taking him for this exam. Since he filed earlier this year he has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Liver Cancer and is Mentally Handicaped and recieves a NSC Pension of which they the VA are now trying to take away. [ he got the letter last month] and i'm planning to appeal this action] Thanks!! Jessie
  16. gousto64 Try this link to Dr. Bash's web pages. <www.veteransMedAdvisor.com> Jessie
  17. Just want to thank you all for your Prayers they are very much appreciated!!! I too hope for a quick positive rate. The original claim was filed in Feb. 2006, He received a decision to Service Connect in March of 2007 with a rate of 0%. He should have been rated at 40% for having to have phlebotomies now at the rate of one every 3 week. This was all in the file at the time he was given the 0% rate. I filed the reconsideration in April 2007. I'm hoping that they pay him his 40% back to the original date of the claim, But i'm not holding my breath!!. Thanks again!! Jessie
  18. Just thought i'd let everyone know that after 7 months my son's claim for a reconsideration in the rate of service connection for his Blood Cancer has finally gone to the rater finally after 7 months. Jessie
  19. Berta: Yes My son did receive the legal VCAA Letter and yes it had the Election Notice inclosed which he returned and told them to go ahead and procree with the claim. We sent all the evidence . Thanks, Jessie
  20. Ricky: I'am hearing you!! Heaven i don't want to confuse the idiots!! Thanks Jessie
  21. Hello stevedensha I was just following the advice of the Elders on the forum. Check out my frist post under Writing the NOD. Thanks Jessie
  22. Hello John999 Thank you for the advice. But i'm a bit confused. I was told to ask for the SOC when i send in the NOD and because of the time line i am on here to also send in the VA form 9 at the same time. I have put so much [time and heart] into the claim for reconsideration in the rate he was given for the Blood Cancer that i completely forgot about the decision for the Back and the need to get an appeal started before the year was up!!! Dumb me i know. I just wasn't thinking!! Anyway the year runs out on the 20th of November. So do i still have time to get the NOD in and get a SOC back before i send in the Form 9??? Do i go by the date the decision was made or the date stamped on the decision letter?? If it's the date stamped on the decision letter that would give me another week but thats it. I don't think enought time!! Jessie
  23. Thanks Tyler: Everything i'm sending with the NOD is new evidence and is not already part of his file. So i think it will be ok to send them. Just wanted to check!! But your right getting the VA to actually read them is of question. Jessie
