Question

Can anyone help me find info on how many male 100% VA rated receive SSD?

Vs....how many women.

I am 100% VA/female(since '81) and have been again denied SSd.

I have attorney etc; he's had a judge rule favorably on the proceedural error (by the original judge)

which re-opened the file. Judges in CO sat on my file nearly a year; lawyer took it back to SS who just denied it again.

Lawyer will appeal.

1)-Im wanting to know if there is discrimination going on towards women vets.

2)-What is the norm for getting both VA and SSD?

I feel pretty dehumanized.

Thanks in advance for being here and any help you may be.

Administrative Law Judge is ALJ its a good place to get it fixed. I have 100% VA and SSD. VA took 5 years and Social Security did it in five months. Its different for everyone.

Welcome to Hadit and good luck

Pete

PS the VA discriminates against all Veterans.

Hi and thanks for your info, Ill look at the womans site later, Im a tad fried now. All day hunting info.

The reason Im asking about male vs women is because it seems (to this woman) that there is no reason for me to be denied, again.

I know tons of males who received both VA and SSd when I did not even know I could.

I agree that info would be dangerous for us dummy vets to have.

Just the other day I found a CBS study showing that over 6500 vets a year do suicide, with DoD refusing input; they went state by state and got the info.

http://www.alternet.org/waroniraq/68713/

........Earlier this year, using the clout that only major broadcast networks seem capable of mustering, CBS News contacted the governments of all 50 states requesting their official records of death by suicide going back 12 years. They heard back from 45 of the 50. From the mountains of gathered information, they sifted out the suicides of those Americans who had served in the armed forces. What they discovered is that in 2005 alone -- and remember, this is just in 45 states -- there were at least 6,256 veteran suicides, 120 every week for a year and an average of 17 every day..........

So, for me.....LB submitted to SS new more recent med evidence(EMDR therapy and two years of other ongoing therapy) as well as all the prior years of med evidence; denied again by SS.

Now he says he'll appeal back to the 2nd judge who signed off on the prior judge's order of proceedural error(dates of eligibility).

I had more than five prior years of work history pre mil.

Im guessing this means its going back to an ALJ????....the slackards who are not dealing with the slew of SS case files in CO.

The same slacks who did rule favorably on the proceedural error in my favor.

This is the same judge(s) who could have.....made the SSd ruling but only did the proceedural ruling.

So, before the judges could say Well have you taken this new med evidence to SS?....LB did just that, and I was again denied.

My feeling is.....they dont want to rule for me because there would be more than a years retro and they dont want to (go on record for) paying it.

So, what does it take for a female vet to get SSd?

There is plenty of documentation.

But the form letter said....there were jobs I (she, he, it) could do.

Another question.....When I did work some years ago I fell and trashed my knee, a comp issue; had two knee surgeries and also ended up with two nerve trashed arms/hands due to crutches and wheelchair for four months.

LB will be presenting this info at the 'next hearing'.

He also indicated some sh*t about me having to "testify" for this judge.....WTF I HAVE TO DEFEND myself to this judge?.....I said I wouldnt do it without my last therapist as I have developed quite a problem now dealing with drs and professional men.

After the 2nd knee surgery I had amnesia. Still cant recall six months.

Apologize for being all over the place with info but this is all so unsettling and humiliating.

I don't know about the numbers--

Please consider the fact that the VA and SSA use different guidelines to determine disability. Currently, I am rated 100% disabled by SSA, and this is based upon two items cardiovascular problems, and Diabetes II. The VA has rated me at only 10% for the Diabetes, even though I take Metformin, and the cardio problems are known to be caused or aggravated by diabetes(Appeal/NOD filed). That said, 100% VA "granted" disability is certainly in your favor when it comes to a fight with SSA. A sticking point with SSA can be the fact that you were working with the 100% VA disability (if that's the case). If so, you would likely need to convince them that the problem became worse, and is now preventing you from working.
