Started vocrehab once, evaluated and told my specialty skills didnt transfer to civilian work. Stressed by process, mdd, I did a health pause. If all else looks good for tdiu, will the pause affect claim? can't reopen been near 2 years.thanks,cg

No Voc Rehab actually has little to do with your claim. Taking a pause is an indicator of not being able to work.

Veterans deserve real choice for their health care.

Thanks so much,

I'm just double checking my gray matter rgards tdiu. I've read in the regs that voc rehab isnt a true player in tdiu determination, but that varies from varo to varo. To say the least, my experience with voc rehab revealed a tightly timed and budgeted program. I encounterd a 'you are in my territory' too busy for you counselor, GS-11? with 'limited time' 2 minute presets, vague do it yourself paperwork, in turn contracted out all day skills evaluation, only to have counselor assign suspense dates to 'me' to complete 'my' request, and ignored my questions, truly a lack of counselor/customer interaction. When I took the mental health pause and informed the counselor, I was sent a statement "I stopped action on your claim because you didnt complete your evaluation." I'm glad the programs good for some who can figure it out.

Don't get caught up in the BULL about you have to be 70% to get TDIU. You can get it with less. Don't give up just because of a denial (Bull....) form letter. This is just what they want you to do.

I HAVE BEEN ON THIS VETERANS SITE SINCE THE BEGINNING AROUND 1997, This site has had many changes. All of the changes have been for the good of the site. T-Bird does her best to keep Veterans informed. This is the best Veterans Discussion Board on the Internet. I wish I was able to be on here as much as I used to be. The amount of post that it shows that I have made does not go back to when the site started. T-Bird had no idea that this site would ever get as big as it has grown. She is a big inspiration for a lot of Veterans. If it were not for this site, a lot of Veterans would not have ever had their claims won..QUOTEHelp a Veteran any time that you can. They need to be informed of the claims process...

Me personally; to someone reviewing your records and seeing that you'd made an attempt to take on a new career, and failing, would tell me that you just may need some help?! Many disabled veterans drop voc rehab, not because they're lazy or inept, but because of pain and lack of concentration. Use this to your advantage.

However, I don't think trying voc rehab while trying for TDIU would be a good idea in general as some may try to use it against you if you were doing well without a strong enough justification of dropping out.

If you could hire a voc rehab specialist to say you can't work that would help your claim. You don't want to leave it to chance. When lawyers hire expert witnesses they know exactly what they will say. You are your own lawyer when you file a VA claim.
