Rockhound
From my experience, you will already have had a C&P by the time your claim makes it to the Rater. unless he finds he needs additional medical information to clarify some aspect or to correct some deficit in a C&P examination. How long it is at the Rater, depends on many factors, how many claims are on his desk waiting to be looked at, to whether he has had to call in sick or take a personal day or two for a family emergency and they don't see any reason to give his work load to some one else. I've had my claim From a C&P exam to a determination done in as little as seven months. My NSC pension claim took even less time from the date I filed and the date it was awarded was less than six months. You could have a slam dunk claim and it could go on for a couple of years, you just can't tell with the VA, that is biggest problem with the VA today, their is no uniformity on how claims are handle and in what time frame they should be handled, even thought they have been told time and time again to try and find a way to speed things up. Speeding things up to the VA means to deny the claim or low ball it, so it listed as a completed claim and then you have to pend the next lifetime appealing their findings only to get it remanded because they did such a poor job to begin with, all in the name of expediency. Oh Yea! DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH AND MAKE SURE YOUR WILL IS UP TO DATE, you could well die before your claim is decided or if decided, to your satifaction that if relates truly to the rating schedule for its severity.
