Fatty Liver

Well, I just go my results of a CT scan of the abdomen and it shows: Marked Fatty Infiltration of the liver. I don't drink alcohol and never abused alcohol either. Would it fall under: Chronic liver disease without cirrhosis?

Most likely under diagnostic code 7345. Non alcoholic diseases of the liver. Most likely fibrosis.

Pete's onto something and I agree, how is this condition disabling you and are you (if you are) connecting this to your service?

Have you tried fish oil? It's very good for the liver.

Although "fatty liver" appears in many BVA cases- it is usually in conjunction with anotjher disabling condition such as diabetes, obesity, or cirrosis.

I did find this interesting case:

The veteran was awarded for fatty liver under Secion 1151 as he proved this condition was due to the VA's administration of Simstatin (Zocor)

He was at the BVA because the VA had proposed to reduce this 1151 compensation.

The severance of compensation for non-alcoholic fatty liver

disease under 38 U.S.C.A. § 1151 was improper; restoration of

compensation under 38 U.S.C.A. § 1151 for such disease is

2008); 38 C.F.R. §§ 3.102, 3.105(d), 3.361 (2007)."

I'm claiming IBS, and as part of the work up, colonoscopy was unremarkble, labs and cultures unremarkble or negative, but abdominal CT showed that. So, are the abdominal symptoms sequela from a ruptured appendectomy, post-cholecystectomy or is the fatty liver from taking INH for 6 months. The liver enzymes used to be very high, some where more than 3 times the normal values, but for the most part elevated for about 10 years, then slowly went down to normal.
