Rate this question

Question

I have been helping a Vet. with his claim. Vet. rceived notice to appear for C&P examination in next month. What should the Vet. be prepared for? For example what questions will be asked, etc... What area/subjects should he stay away from?

Would like to hear from all, but especialy those who are service connected for Migraine headaches.

Thanks,

Tanker31

tanker31,

What will also be of Great Importance is What Is The Cause of the Headaches/Migraines.

There are at least 3 or 4 different Diagnostic Codes (DC's) that the decision maker

can apply to rate this condition under, per the Medical Evidence presented.

8100 - Migraine

8045 - TBI

XXXX - Vascular

XXXX - Sinus

XXXX - Muscleskeletal (cervical)

Certain DC's limit the Migraine/Headache evaluation to 10 %.

Other DC's provide evaluations of 10, 30, 50 % etc...

It will be important for the vet to let the C&P examiner know both

HOW and HOW OFTEN, the Migraine's/Headaches effect their daily life.

Examples

How = Intensity scale of 1-10, have to lay down, bright light, hot or cold packs,

nausea, vomiting, have to take OTC or RX meds, use tens unit, use at home traction kit,

had to leave work or call in sick (if this is the case get records from employer)

can't drive, etc...

How Often = 5-4-3-2-1 times a month, day week, etc...

and how long the episodes last.

It will be helpful if the veteran has kept a Migraine/Headache calander diary

to take it to the C&P examination with them.

Hope this helps a vet.

I'm SCd for migraines as well. Don't wish these on anyone...

Carlie gave lots of good advice....good notes are sooooo important!!

-How many migraines a month?

-What triggers them? (for me it's strong odors)

-What happens when you get one? (specific symptoms here...pain on which side of head, visual auroas, puking, etc)

-How long do they last?

-What relieves them?

Write down anything and everything that the vet feels is associated with the migraine....and the time off of work, time away from family activities, number of doc visits, ER visits, etc is very important.

The most importand note is this.

You have to lay down for several hours when you get one.

That is prostrating.
