Phillies44
Hi, I read on the VA website that IRIS is used for appeal cases. Is this true? Or can you check out a regular claim that is being processed for you? Thanks for any replies.
ruby
I sent an iris today for something and they responded in a couple of hours of course the answer was to NOD which I knew but I wrote it hoping they might look at my claim (you never can tell) they didn't. I also asked a specific question regarding rules, regs, opinion, cavc cases etc regarding medical literature--can a c&p examiner accept and read other material then what is in the medical files or c&p file during a c&p exam--they completely ignored that question. So I sent in a complaint that they didn't answer my question. We will see how long that one takes to answer

diablogun
IRIS can be used to check on any type of claim, ask general questions, or to make a claim. I have a few claims that are from IRIS inquiries. It doesn't slow the progress of your claim down. It may take a week to get an answer, but your claim still goes on during that time. They don't get your file. If they can't answer your question they will refer it to the Regional Office. Good to see you again Meddac :-)
jsdwd
I recently used it to check status of a claim and received an answer in two days. Not bad at all.
Berta
I have asked VA twice via Iris to CUE themselves and it worked very quickly. As matter of fact I heard from the VSCM within 24 hours this last time-and he even followed up that the appeals team had my recent award letter and the award letter, instead, that I wrote myself for them to use which I put into the Iris,-and I added the proper legal citations they failed to consider. My award covered 6 separate claims issues.I am still livid that they "forgot" that the Nehmer Decision controls this award. It pays to write your Iris question in Word and paste it into the quiry section. Be brief but to the point.
