Question

Hi, I read on the VA website that IRIS is used for appeal cases. Is this true? Or can you check out a regular claim that is being processed for you? Thanks for any replies.

I have used IRIS to check out claims in development.

Hi John, great, so does it not slow down anything? If I remember right it takes around 5 days to get a reply? Thanks

IRIS can be used to check on any type of claim, ask general questions, or to make a claim. I have a few claims that are from IRIS inquiries. It doesn't slow the progress of your claim down. It may take a week to get an answer, but your claim still goes on during that time. They don't get your file. If they can't answer your question they will refer it to the Regional Office.
