Upon Being Awarded 100%

Question

For those that have been fortunate enough to receive 100%, please review the many additional benefits that become available. Specifically I'm referring to dental and eyeglasses. I am surprised to find out how many 100% Vets don't avail themselves of total dental work at their local VA. There are many other benefits, such as educational money for college students etc. You have earned these benefits, so don't feel as though anyone is doing you a favor. Educate yourself on what you justly deserve... and..Welcome Home brothers and sisters.

You had better check your information.

I am not in the mood to argue especially when I know this information first hand and have received both benefits.

We need to keep our advice correct and we must know what we post and also understand it as it only hurts the Veteran when something is not understood.

I am asking a question because the VA Q & A is vague and does not state what you are claiming it states so I asked for clarification on it, I am not trying to argue I am trying to learn when 2 people read the same thing and come up with different ideas of what it is stating then you shouldn't get MAD and claim you are right just because you know you are this is not about whose is bigger I am just trying to learn the correct answer because why would it state you need to be on a pension or house bound or a POW if a 10% vet can get it? That doesn't make sense

what are "special circumstances"? that is what I am trying to learn thank you

Test Vet, This is Carlies specialty and I will defer to her. The Special Circumstances I take to be are Veterans who are below the income threshold, Veterans who have sustained MST or Personal Trauma.

Again, I think Carlie can help when she gets back tommorrow.

Thanks.

I appreciate it thank you they have to many rules and they don't even have all their employees that comprehend all of them just like that other thread about means tests the VA is a game a lot of the time....

but the majority of us are not SC for eye related issues and in order to get free glasses from the VA you need to be rated 50% so they then treat all but dental issues Category 1 veterans

I don't know the regs on this but speaking for myself, I am exempt from co-pay from being below that threshold in means testing and I am only so far rated at 40% and I was able to get eyeglasses. I believe they said it was a result of my financial status but I can't swear to that.

I don't know how it works any more then before I got to 50% and I had NO income they were still charging me 8 dollars per prescription at first it was 7 then they raised it, when I was still working though they charged me 25 per doctor visit and 50 for specialists so I quit going to them after the heart surgery in 97 I had Blue Cross and going to MCG the visit only cost me 12 and I was seeing the same doctor at MCG that I was seeing at the VA only after I had been unemployed for more than a year and met the low income threshold would I go back to the VA

like we were discussing earlier either here or in another thread the VA also has a lot of employees that do not know how to handle the means test and the things they are supposed to decut from income and some of the VAMCs don;t or haven't charged everyone's insurance companies when they should have been or they charge them for C&P exams and for SC medical conditions which is also something they shouldn't be doing

The VA has a lot of problems with people comprehending all of the rules employees and veterans
