Last year I spent sometime helping a OIF/OEF buddy prepare a NOD and request

a DRO Hearing, that was held Oct 2009.

He just called me and he got cervical SC'd at 20 percent and Migraines at 30 percent.

I believe this will increase his current 50 percent SC to 70 percent. I think the

effective date will be May 2007, so doing some quick math I think his retro

will be around 16 K.

If anyone is willing to do the math for me, please let me know what his

total percentage will be now with the additional SC'd amounts.

Here's a list of what needs to be figured.

He had:

7 at 10 % each (along with a bunch of zeros)

now he has been granted a 20% and a 30 %.

Please let me know what his new total will be.

Thanks.

According to the Hadit SC calculator, his new combined rating (7 10's + 20 + 30) should be 73.2, up from 52.1.

Per the rates at

http://www.vba.va.gov/bln/21/rates/comp01.htm

50% with no children or spouse pays $770/month.

70% with no children or spouse pays $1228/month, an increase of $458/month.

$458 x 35 months (May 2007 - March 2008) = $16,030

Note! Those are this year's rates. The rates for each year will need to be calculated individually, as retro is calculated based on the rate of each calendar year where retro occurs. Don't have them handy, but should be easy to look up. Your friend should get somewhere between 14k-16k, which is still very sweet.

It's even more if your pal has a spouse or children.http://www.hadit.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=35718&hl=#

Hope I got the math right, so someone go double check me...
